What is the chance, in any shoot-out, of the fifth kicker on the team going second even getting to take a penalty? I don’t have the stats but I’d guess it wouldn’t be much more than 50%. Talk about a schoolboy error.

Over 80% of all shoot outs in the European Cup of nations have gone to at least 5 shots each. So the Pirtuguese strategy wasn’t that baffling. However I believe the third kicker to be pivotal.

Just 1 of the last 10 shoot outs in Euros/world cup have gone to 5kicks each.

I think Hummels is overhyped from what I’ve seen. Robin Van Persie is being massively overrated after a good season at Arsenal, he’s a dangerous player if you stand off him but he’s fairly easily shut out. The Dutch look really poor.
