Euro 2016 - Group Stage thread

Belgium would tonk England.

Yeah, they’re comfortably better than the Slovaks.

Oh there it is. That moment of stupidity that always costs them dear, nearly did.

Lots of pace in that England side.

Very susceptible defensively though.

vardy is unreal fast

How many balls has Henderson hit out over the sideline now?

Skrtel has been immense.

Dier is a very intelligent player. You can tell he didn’t learn how to play soccer in England

Real captain’s performance from Skrtel.

Woy is utterly clueless. England are a shambles under him.

Same old lack of wit or invention from England, neither Rooney or Wilshere will unlock the better defences.

how are the orish getting on?

Jaysus Con Murphy is on TV3 now. Haven’t seen him in ages

He’s the TJ Ryan of England.

Cannot understand the starting of both vardy and sturridge.

No pace or dynamism to bring on. Thise Slovaks would live that hoof it in shit.

Arrogance has alot to do with it. Previewing the u20 rugby today the english lad wanted ireland in the final as england would beat them england hadn’t played their semi yet, not to mention the fact we beat them the last time. They have a bizarre outlook on sport.

It was that arrogance that cost them. Now they’re on the same side of the draw as France, Germany and Portugal if they get far enough

Spain have a cakewalk to the final should they avoid defeat tomorrow.

Spain and Italy are comfortably the most acomplished sides so far, France a little bit back.

Dumb team selection. Logic in giving Vardy and Sturridge a run but not in making the other changes. They should have been out of sight at half time.

Italy’s path is daunting.

They will likely have Croatia in the last 16, then Germany in the quarters should they go through, France in the semis and Spain in the final.

I think it’s very hard to see us doing that and I think we’ll struggle to break teams down. We’ll give any side a game but it’s the culmination of all these big games on the back of each other with fatigue and suspensions mounting that makes it tough.

Italy were shot going into the final in 2012. They had shorter gaps between their games than Spain and had to go to penalties with England which eventually took its toll. Things have panned out well for Spain, they’ve a tough group but the knockout phase couldn’t look any better for them right now if they win tomorrow.

The Euros is a much more exhaustive tournament than the World Cup, shorter turnaround in games and much less dead rubbers where you can rest up players who need it.
