Euro 2016 Qualifier - Ireland v Germany

Would you not just give it a break for one night?

Maybe maturity too. Sometimes we torget most of these lads are uneducated youngsters. He had extra pressure too

That was just fucking magnificent. To a man that Irish team played intelligent, patient football. Germany were atrocious, but I put that down to the pressure we put them under and the discipline and organisation we maintained. I canā€™t think of an Irish player who had a bad game. Players barely getting a game at their championship clubs, players with absolutely fuck all international experience, players carrying injuries. No one went missing, not even James McCarthy. No one looked intimidated. No one panicked. Keeper gets injured, no worries, weā€™ll just throw on this lad who most people have never heard of, he goes on to set up a goal and make some excellent saves. Ward (who was outstanding) goes off injured, weā€™ve used all our subs with 15 minutes left against the world champions who have been laying siege to us all game. We could have colapsed at that point. We didnā€™t, we just kept playing and soaking it up. Best Ireland performance Iā€™ve seen in years. Hopefully this becomes a platform now.
The atmosphere seemed brilliant as well, from an early part of the game. Fucking magnificent.

im in a state of shock
James Macathy and John O shea were immense
what a goal , in the classic route 1 mould
i was in the 51 earlier and had 2 pints, was wearing a Maccabi Haifa green/white jersey, grand pub
fuck it, when scotland went 2-1 it was nervous, that goal was utterly insane, jesus

Lads, I think itā€™s better that Poland equalised rather than the Jockos winning and having the possibility of finishing 4th still hanging over us. Sure, we need a 2-2 or higher score draw minimum to qualify automatically now rather than any draw but thatā€™s okay.

If you got all the way to Haddington Road from north Kildare you shouldā€™ve went to the match, mick. The 51 is a grand boozer but not a great place to watch a match.

Que?

Forget I said anything.

I think what @bandage is trying to say is that Scotland are out and we should all be happy about that.

If only we had a specific thread or a designated forum member who could run through the permutations for me.

I know it was route one and Iā€™m reading all this guff about it being a classic Jack Charlton era goal. It was in my hole. That was a brilliant ball by Randolph. If any top level player in Europe like Pirlo or Messi had played that pass, weā€™d be saying it was a thing of beauty. Thatā€™s what it was, it was perfect and Shane Longā€™s execution was sublime.
Route one is Niall Quinn bundling the ball in against Holland in 1990. This was a fucking brilliant goal.

As has been said, James McCarthy delivered a momentous performance tonight. Unbelievable scenes. God bless the diaspora.

Cyrus Christie is the best right back in English and possibly European football.

Free shot at qualification on Sunday.
