During a nine hour train journey from Poznan to Krakow in 2012 I listened to a bit of Polish radio on my earphones. I found it surprisingly therapeutic and the people talking on what I imagine was some sort of current affairs programme came across as calm, reasoned and measured in what they were saying, despite me not having a clue what that was.

Did you miss a connection or something? Surely your flight would have been merely delayed?
My flight back from Amsterdam was affected by the knock on effect of the same strike and took off two hours late and I didn’t get back to Dublin Airport until 1am.
Flight to Nice cancelled. No space on any other flight to Nice. Clue, mid summer not a good time to be looking at finding a seat to the Mediterranean. Could conceivably have got a flight to Paris and tried to get a train down but I’m not an intrepid traveller and I’d have been bollixed.
