Gareth Barry played a fair bit for England. Ozil made an absolute fool of him in 2010
Itâs impossible for a player to boss it by himself in that regard, if players arenât on Jorginhoâs wavelength it will break down after a few passes.
Englandâs problem is not that they donât have a Jorginho - their problem is they donât have a Jorginho, a Verratti, a Barrella, a Bonucci, a Chiellini. They come from a culture where you need to be brave and demanding for the ball. Itâs a collective, Jorginho is just the focal point but you need to have 11 players who want to be on the ball in the modern game.
he was shunted left back or left mid for a lot of them. He got burned alright by Ozil but Ozil was phenomenal then. he had no business being left midfield either
Could they not have 3 in midfield, Rice, Mount, Foden with a front 3 of Sancho, Kane and Sterling. Trent and Shaw bombing on from full back, be great to watch.
I think the biggest problem with England is mentality âŚlook at Stones, all the talent in the world , but doesnât want to dominate a game heâs just looking to survive and not make mistake âŚ
itâs a chicken and egg. If you donât have a fella that can get turned in midfield the forwards runs arenât picked out and it looks like they arenât demanding or looking for it because the lad in midfield is playing wall passes. A lot of those England lads further up all demand the ball at club level where they have a Jorginho or Fernandinho
Mount is better with Jorginho - for example if Rice was at Chelsea it would be different for Mount
And Kante. He looks a nothing player without those two
You can think of a wall pass as bouncing a ball off of a wall to yourself . Except in this case the wall is a teammate. In wall pass you pass the ball to a teammate who immediately passes the ball back to you into open space. This helps to keep the defense off balance.
fuck it Iâd look good at Chelsea with those two
Lampard didnât know what to do with either Jorginho or Kante. He fucked the both of them up
In fairness, France have better players than everyone. England are a bad draw away from crashing out of any competition tbh.
you provide a great service for the agricultural lads on here
Italy didnât have a Jorginho either. He came from Brazil.
look that shit is just juvenile, especially considering any half decent team weâve had has been filled with English lads.
Yeah but itâs always the same, these lads have teams built around them at club level and delude themselves into thinking they are superstars. Remember all the hype about Gerrard and Lampard and then when it came to England they looked like a fish out of water without the supporting cast.
Someone like Jorginho makes good players look better. Someone like a Gerrard or Lampard need the supporting cast to make them look good. The penny never dropped with the English why all these players who look like superstars for their clubs canât do it on the international stage. TBF, there is a lot of similarities for Messi with Barca, the team is built around him with Barca and he struggles to adapt with Argentina.
Thatâs why for me, international football is the ultimate test.
They have plenty of them, Pirlo before him, Sensi, Verratti, Tonali for the future.
And Jorginho got his footballing education in Italy, been there since he was 15
England only lost the final on penalties though.
The margins in international football are tiny, youâve a very emotional way of looking at it based on your biases
They did but they didnât deserve to win.
Early goal, easy draw, home advantage pretty much all the way through and they still couldnât do it.
Where they fell short was an inability to control games and the ball.
where they fell short was in a penalty shoot out. Thatâs the fact
Like Italy against Spain, where you had a different argument for why Italy deserved to win.
Like I said, incredibly biased
