Euro 2024 Qualifier Draw

This all goes back to how we treated John Delaney.

I think Vera Pauw would get a better tune out of the group than Spock

What we need to do now is turn a crack squad of Irish football terrorists loose on key players from teams ranked below us in the Nations League who threaten our hopes of getting a play-off, namely Sweden, Turkey, Albania, Montenegro, Slovakia, Romania, Bulgaria and Georgia.

Matt Doherty needs to go and break yer man Kulusevski’s leg in training at Tottenham. Seamus Coleman could sign off from a glorious Irish career by doing to Alexander Isak what Neil Taylor did to him. Festy can go after that Georgian chap who plays for Napoli. Nathan Collins should be set the task of repeating what he did to Jack Grealish on some poor unsuspecting Turk, except this time inflicting actual injury.

Do it for the team.

Dead right.

Should have fucked him out the door 10 years earlier before he could inflict so much damage on the game.

We had back to back qualifications under Mr Delaney

Dela would have had all his angles covered and insured there was some technicality we couldn’t be drawn into that group.

Didn’t that happen before for the last Euro’s and the camera panned to John and Mick and they giggling away to themselves? I think the North then got a shocker of a draw.

If you take out the not qualified for world cup?

We just have to take it that this is our level now.

This is how the qualification for France 84 ended for us. The funny thing is if we got this group it would called a ‘group of death’ ffs!

Look at the qualifying group for 1982! And lads want the USSR reforming!!

That 1984 group was the one where Spain had to beat Malta by 11clear goals in the last game and miraculously won 12-1 in one of the sports most questionable games.

We did beat them 8-0 so it would be fair to say they weren’t up to much.

Don’t really look back at this with any joy or pride because we didn’t play in the right way.

Genuinely. Tbh I’d prefer a manager and assistant manager combo of Lisa Fallon and Karen Duggan to Steo and Keith Andrews.

That Weigmann over the English ladies is on a similar salary to Spock. She might be an option

Were you calling for Klopp’s head when he spent a few years returning mixed results, as he spught to change the playing style and culture at Liverpool?

Klopp was in a Europa League Final and League Cup final within were months of arriving on Merseyside. Broke into the top 4 in his first full season which was huge progress at the time, Champions League finalists in his second full season. There’s no comparison between him and Stephen Kenny. I’m very much on the fence as regards Bossman Steo but I’m not very optimistic that it will end well for him. I do know that Fallon is a far better public speaker than him though.

Started from a similarly low ebb, relatively speaking, and they were far from convincing until the broke two world record transfer fees. Coning 4th and losing finals was not what he was brought in to achieve.

Kenny took over earlier than he was supposed to, during a pandemic, and has had to try and build a squad up from almost nothing in terms of experience.

Ah he was doing a fine job even before the Phil Coutinho funded defensive reinforcements. The football Liverpool played during November and December of 2017 was amongst the best of the Klopp era. Mohammed Salah sensational during that period.

Kenny has certainly integrated a plethora of youth and deserves praise in that regard. I wouldn’t be too hard on him regarding the Nations League campaign either and there were green shoots against Scotland (H) when he eventually reneged and played Obafemi. I’m flabbergasted by the staunch media support of him but I’d like to see him succeed. All I said was that Lisa Fallon and Emma Duggan would be as good a managerial combo as Kenny and Andrews. Anyone who’s ever watched Keith Andrews analyse a game on Virgin Media would have to be sceptical of his merits.

So my reading of this is that, should everything go to plan, we will be back in the exact same position we were in when Spock took us over. Savage progress

Spock was on Off the Ball there.

Standard Kenny media fare. Elongated, awkward silences and responses. Cherry picking certain displays and results (‘a record win over Scotland’), ignoring or minimising others.

He’s unhappy about playing Greece in June. The players will need to ‘acclimatise’ to this.

He’s unhappy about the 6 week break between the end of the Championship and the Greece game.

He’s unhappy that Ireland have no game in the last match day so other teams will know what results they need, ‘the Dutch will know if they’ve to beat Gibraltar by 4, France will know if they only need a draw against the Greeks’

He’s unhappy with ‘agenda based criticism’. He refused to expand on what this entailed.

Usual hyping up of performances where we didn’t actually win - Portugal home, Portugal away, Ukraine away, Scotland away etc.

Joe Molloy was so far up his hole it could have been Narnia.
