Europa League Final 2022 - Rangers v Eintracht Frankfurt

Yes but I think a lot of them are far more interested in the latter.

I think it was said by certain people around here that when Rangers were forcibly relegated Celtic would lose too, and that bore out as Celtic became self-congratulatory and utterly complacent as a club for beating teams that wouldn’t look out of place in the Leinster Senior League, and following a good performance in the 2012/13 Champions League completely fell away in Europe, turning in a decade of abysmal performances in Europe.

After Rangers got Gerrard in they turned in a very respectable European campaign followed by this season’s Tour De France while Celtic continue to stink the place out in Europe. That’s a damning indictment on Celtic given they have had all the advantages for the last decade.

Celtic need to strike with some schadenfreude on Twitter. Maybe a Thursday throwback clip tomorrow morning of famous Celtic shoot out victories in Europe or something.

The Rebel Treble

I can think of Spartak Moscow in 2007 and little else? Lost to Valencia in 2001 and Inter Milan in 1972 anyway.

There was a famous coin toss victory during the 1969/70 run to the European Cup final (I think) so perhaps that will be part of the highlights package too.

In fairness Liverpool fans have always taken a fair interest in the fortunes and failures of Manchester United and vice versa.

To be fair I think its normal for Irish people to dislike Rangers more than they like Celtic

Have they had many? Internationale gained revenge for the 1967 European Cup final loss in the lottery after 4 hours of goalless action in the 1972 semi final.

A lot of Irish folk seem to prefer Rangers than Celtic.

We certainly like to laugh when it’s merited, which is most of the time, but in truth the fortunes of Manchester United don’t particularly bother me.

I think I was even up for them in the penalty competition in the 2008 Champions League final and I certainly recall my reaction to the treble in 1999 being one of wide eyed wonder at the manner of how the latter stages of the Champions League final unfolded rather than any cynicism.

I do recall being out the night of the 2-2 draw against Liverpool when Paul Ince scored (The Back Gate in the Frazer’s complex followed by Planet Murphy’s) and taking a rather unhealthy degree of pleasure at that goal, however, but in defence, that goal was scored by the team I actually support.

Hard to believe Kent was so quiet considering that right back was an absolute puddin…

Orange microphones. Hilarious

A lot of pressure now on rangers to win cup …

I find it hard to figure him out. He can look good/dangerous in big European games and has given Celtic some bother from time to time but his actual stats are fairly appalling. I think he’s only a few goals and assists all season.

Herdelf asked me of i was offered ÂŁ10 million to play for ramgers would I? Absolutely not. I would not be able to come back to ireland. But i would play for Liverpool for that money despite being a united supporter. Its a job and the scouse arent bad people just support a club my club has a great rivalry with

They put out their reserve/development squad players at Tynecastle last weekend in the final league game and won 3-1 against Hearts’ strongest side. It would be absolutely comical if that was turned on its head and they suffered another agonising final defeat. Hearts are a lesser version of the huns though.

You would take it and you’d be able to live quite happily in a majority Catholic area of Ireland after doing it.

I’d imagine Denis Byrne would have a much tougher time in Kilkenny after playing for Tipperary.
