Was speaking to a friend of Spaletti. There was a 24 package of Tayto Crisps and several pounds of butchers sausages delivered to his home on Thursday. He was also seen in the market buying bread on Friday. The physio said he shouldnāt have played but they wanted to let him feel it. Rumours of a loan to Lazio now.

Sounds like his direct competition for starting place is Artem Dovbyk who was in running for top scorer in La Liga with Girona the season before last. Oh and you know, keeping fit and healthy.

The woof brigade like James Horncastle adore Gasperini. His Atalanta side won the Europa League against Leverkusen in Dublin in the 2023/24 season & Celtic played them last season in the CL. He plays 3 at the back & itās very aggressive - high intensity, hard pressing & pushing right up with the defence playing high.
It can be fluid then ahead of them with lots of rotations & interchanges & working overloads. 352, 3412, 343, 3421. You might have had Lookman playing wide left of the front three in one part of the game but then playing inside as one of the two behind a loan striker in other moments. As lads are drifting into one position, thereās another couple moving somewhere else based off them. Itās similar to how Mickey Harte coached OāNeill & Canavan (& later Mulligan) to base their movements off Brian McGuigan & each other.
Lots of reports that Roma are trying to offload Dovbyk - he wasnāt too impressive in his debut season - so Ferguson has a good chance of featuring, especially given Gasperiniās commitment to attacking & getting forward players on the pitch.
I guess the opening game team selection will tell a lot. Heāll be expected to lead the pressing from the front & do an awful lot of running/sprinting & he hasnāt looked physically fit in the last couple of seasons, never mind march sharp, so letās see how he gets on.

I see Big Evās teammate Matias Soule, who plays as one of the two behind the main striker in Gasperiniās 3421, says the Irishman reminds him of a combination of Batistuta & Higuain.
