We had an early nip in September 2022.
But the one the English are still going on about was November 2010. When a lot of gardeners and horticulturalists were caught out.
I had to look those dates up.

The plants are. Still growth
Grass growth has slown dramatically in the last 10 days.
I could do with trimming the garden but Iāve convinced myself against it.
The lawn will be the better for the bitƩƩn of thatch over the winter.
Iāve considered the same variables and would concur.
Unreal sunset here on the western slopes of the Galtees
Unreal, unbelievable. My camera would never be able to capture it like that.
Iām an absolute sucker for a good sunset.
Put your camera on portrait
Only 10 days left until āthe turnā and momentum builds towards the spring
You actually get a better class of sunset around the 8th-15th of December than you do at the turn.
I always love the Cheltenham December meeting watching the last couple of races at 3.00 and 3.35 where the Cotswolds looks amazing in the fading light.
Cue somebody to say that the earliest sunset isnāt on the shortest day of the year (21st),
itās on the 11th this year which is actually today.
Cue some eejit like meā¦
I find the sunsets from around the 20th December to January 6th underwhelming enough.
The high point of the year regarding sunsets is arguably late January followed by mid-late May.
Split sunset season is it?
Thereās a lovely stretch this evening.
Grand. A grand stretch.
Still only mid January but shaping up to be an absolute belter of a sunset this evening.
2026 is pregnant with promise.
Weāre in for a good one along the eastern seaboard this pm.
A glorious sky at the moment
