I do not have patience at the best of times and i hate DIY. An awful combination. .
The challenge was laid down to change a 3 gang 2 way light switch, which i assumed would be simple and to just copy what was done already on the new switch… shur how was i to know the old switch had less ports than the new one and that every wire would be identical brown.
The Google machine told me the live ones would have grey casing around them and the others were joiners that needed to go with the correct live wire. So live into com and joiner into L. 40 fucking minutes of cursing every cunt i ever knew and only getting 1 different single switch working each time
… one of the live wires only had 1 joiner as opposed to 2 joiners and this 1 joiner was soldered to it. Or so i thought… i finally figured out that the Google machine sold me a pup and one of the wires with grey casing was a joiner ffs. And the live with what i thought was a single soldered joiner was two lives. Mudder o jaysis… but we have it now thank gawd.

Let me alone to fuck… it’s the best i can do to describe it. The lights are working and no one is dead, yet.
Have you tried hitting it with a hammer?

This was the confusing part. I assumed the connecting short wire was a joiner and the grey wire at the bottom of pick was a live when it wasnt, it was a joiner. But the encircled was to be used as two lives in 2 separate com ports.

Nope… if so much as a slate blows off your roof or a pipe bursts and you try and claim from the insurance… the first question will be who wired the dodgy light switch
It’s a tricky enough circuit for the novice. Many an apprentice has failed on the two way switch. Any given wire can be live. So not for messing with.
