I’d expect that at some stage today Noel will be presented with an open goal and like his uncle Barney before him he won’t be found wanting.
This ticket thing was in 2017 and I’m unclear how it’s a bad thing anyway. Surely we want politicians to call it as it is without being influenced by previous interactions?
Sweep sweep.
My bad but the line-up here, apart from communal dour looking plebs, isn’t exactly AC12 standard. What time should I light the 5 candles for your buddy?
The FAI dela-gation will be appearing before the Joint Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport, not PAC. Fergus O’Dowd is the Chairman and the committee includes such luminaries as Batt O’Keeffe’s son Kev, Ruth Coppinger, the aforementioned Noel Rock and Robert Troy.
Is this the same Kevin O’Keeffe that asked for and got tickets for the World Cup final from Delaney?
I have a hunch that a couple of Denis’s trusted lieutenants spoke to the Indo editorial team and got that Noel Rock story planted last night.
You are somewhat of a sleuth

The FAI’s equivalent of the Nunes memo
I am to sleuthing on TFK as you are to exposing crypto fascism and demagoguery after midnight.
I love the smell of sleuthing in the morning.

The ticket thing is nothing, minor embarrassment for Rock if any at all.
The bit about him saying he’d push back against Catherine Murphy who wanted to bring Delaney in front of the committee is potentially a much bigger story
Yes, the ticket thing isn’t a story at all. Sure all of us here have probably asked people we know for help to get (full price) tickets to sporting or other events. Same goes for Kevin O’Keef(f)e. But Rock’s alleged offer to obstruct the committee is very serious stuff. It’s actually to John’s credit that he ignored this inappropriate utterance and is now gladly appearing before the committee today.
If asking for free tickets is a crime then I’m in big trouble
Cathal Dervan sitting in the background here. In his column in The Star today he called for FAI staff at today’s hearing to boo Rock.

Why isn’t his position being questioned?
It’s up to genuine Irish football fans (on twitter) to crank up the pressure on Noel Rock.
“Well I didn’t necessarily subvert this Committee but I could subvert one no bother” kinda answer.
