Fianna Fails future as a political party

Irish Times poll makes for interesting reading tomorrow

Iā€™m disappointed with FFā€™s performance here. As the party lay in tatters after the last election, I predicted they would win an overall majority at the next election. Alot of work to be done to achieve that still.

Throw up the figures there chewy

<p style="font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color:rgb(0,0,0);]A new opinion poll has shown Fianna FĆ”il as the most popular party for the first time in almost five years. <p style="font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color:rgb(0,0,0);]Conducted among 1,000 voters, the Ipsos MRBI poll which is to be published in tomorrow's Irish Times, was taken on Monday and Tuesday. <p style="font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color:rgb(0,0,0);]According to the poll, support for Fine Gael is down six points since the last Irish Times poll in October, while Labour drops two to 10%. <p style="font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color:rgb(0,0,0);]For the first time in almost five years Fianna FĆ”il is in top position, up five points to 26%. Sinn FĆ©inā€™s support is down two to 18%, while Independents and others are up five to 21%. <p style="font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color:rgb(0,0,0);]Just 18% of voters said they were satisfied with the Government, compared to 77% who are dissatisfied.

I know they commisioned it but it seems fairly idiotic of the Times to publish it tomorrow, given that many peopleā€™s opinions will have changed this week. Printing not quite current news is never a good idea.

As a related aside, may every fucker who has ever been associated with Fianna Fail suffer a slow painful death, with the possible exception of ttk.

when was the poll taken?

As the Magdalene report was top news item. before the announcement of the promissory note deal

ah, beforeā€¦speaks volumes

Huh ? Are you one of the clowns buying into the idea that we got a good deal ?

:o Poor puke.

Puke,

Whats the best way to get a your road resurfaced?

2 mile stretch, used by about 50/60 people.

Get a petition and go to local councillors?

No. Iā€™m not. As iā€™ve outlined on another thread, i think that the fact that the ecb dictates the length of time the icb holds the bonds for is crucial and i believe weā€™ll be fucked on it.on a personal level, i would have liked us to have blanked the ious wholescale.

I hate ff for all the right reasons.

Puke, any updates for me?

The neighbouring townland got their road done because a family member along the road has high up connections in fine gael.

We have no friends in high places.

Hardly surprising the murderous blueshirt bastard decided to give a cheap sop to the locals, just 90 years (almost to the day) after they murdered 23 young irish men.

Does anyone see a heave coming soon against Michael Martin, before the general election is called or much more likely i suspect it will come after the election? @RaymondCrotty

If itā€™s before the election they will have to pull the trigger soon. Just looking at the market for next leader and there are some at big odds sticking out. I wouldnā€™t have Michael McGrath as front runner at all and at 15/8 heā€™s making the market for some others. So too is Dara Calleary who while i think he is more likely than McGrath i still would not think heā€™s most likely.

After Iā€™d say, a chance they could get into government in a coalition even as junior partners.

If they donā€™t theyā€™ll need to ditch anyone tainted from the previous administration. Serious lack of candidates though. Really youā€™d want a bit of inside knowledge as to who the grass roots are voting for.

They need Gerry Collins back.
