I know, it’s mortifying that these chumps can make it to the Euros and Ireland can’t.

Horgan and Maguire are effectively domestic league players. Long must be like a cunt.

They need to go and talk to Bamford, technically excellent, can lead the line and his finishing is improving.

Hed be our best player bar Connolly.

Refused :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Looks like we are back to the days of Eoin Hand

A crop of players as talented as Liam Brady, Frank Stapleton, Ronnie Whelan, David O’Leary, Paul McGrath, Mark Lawrenson and Kevin Sheedy?

Yep

He treated our best player like shit

Whose the best player?

The reply from Eamo :sweat_smile::sweat_smile:

Byrne

Did he not get a run tonight again?

He has the Covid

I thought Spock was going to be a friend to the LOI? Wasn’t there LOI fanboys telling us there were better players than the likes of Alan Judge and James Collins yet Spock won’t give game time to the best player in the league by a distance

:information_source:

Which Premier League team does he play for? Or is he a Celtic player?

That was very frustrating. I thought we were well on top for a long spell after half time, should have scored, and then we just gave them the goal. Is it pre-written that Kenny’s going to be an unlucky general?

Although it’s not just bad luck, it’s self-inflicted too. Hourihane HAD to score that chance in Slovakia, Long HAD to score that header on Sunday, Randolph HAD to be more careful with his distribution for their goal tonight.

We’re playing better football and creating a decent amount of chances, but the praise from some quarters about our style of play is over the top. We’ve been the better team in recent games, yet we’ve still conceded plenty of soft chances ourselves.

Lots of Kenny loyalists in the media are kinda over-egging it. Five games without a win and only one goal scored doesn’t make good reading, but it allows these lads to pontificate about how they understand the game better than mere mortals and have noticed all the signs that indicate things will come good.

As an aside, Aaron Connolly’s decision making is very poor at times. Think Horgan would have had a tap in early in the second half had he squared it, but he had no intention of passing. I get he’s keen to score his first senior international goal but he’s very slow to pass the ball to better placed team mates.

I’m backing Kenny but his use of subs baffles me a bit too.

I agree with most of that.

However I do think ireland have been absolutely blessed to not lose far more games in the last ten years and be absolutely hammered in a few more. Famous results like Germany and Russia being cases in point. Often been completely outplayed in other games too against teams like Georgia and fluked draws or wins.
Maybe that’s what it’s all about and that’s the intangible that a big name experienced manager gives you.
I definitely hope Kenny is given 2 campaigns over four years anyway to prove his worth. Well get fuck all better than him anyway. Even only to sicken the self loathing footixs on twitter and fb who claim Kenny is not ready for the ‘step up’ but would have been delighted if the likes of Paul jewell got the job a few years back.

Some strawman you’ve built there in defence of Kenny. I think the footix are just pointing out it’s been 5 games against poor opppsition, no wins but the hipster hacks are twisting themselves in a knot in defence of SK.
