Fleadh Cheoil in Ennis August 2017

Good to have somebody who understands trad music posting here, you’ll have to read some amount of horseshit from the pretend crew though.

We have a pretend trad crew?

There are thousands of fiddle ignoramous fidfl e players out rhere who you’d be guaranteed to hear from behind a paper bag.
Lads like diarmuid Byrnes who can drive it 130 yards. They are not artists though. Hayes is an artist. The greatest.

@mac is this the direction you are taking on here?

Here’s a man that can do both. He’s taken the trouble to learn the basics.

He’s scotch and dead nigh on 30 year

What do you think of it?

Accomplished obviously but reminds me of every loudmouth Northeren Oirish fiddler i ever met at a fleadh down south. Loud, mouthy and full of shit. The scotch always fiddled like our Northeren cousins.
I don’t like it.

Why don’t you say what you really think.

There’s life, spirit, style and mastery. It sickens the sort of fiddle player who feathers about as if he is trying to hold a handbag under his arm.

Hup out of it.

You doing a bit of fiddling up in Drogheda ?

I’ll never go a fleadh ever again.

I’m watching Ruth Smith here at the fleadh above in Drogheda and she is giving me a massive horn. Thw women in and around trad music are generally top class

And a bit wild

More Ruth and less of this clown Hector

Enjoying the Fleadh highlights on TG4 currently

Some epic curtain twitching and large bottle drinking here.

This is what it will be like when the pubs reopen.
