I see Fingal’s finest - Philip Walton - shot an 89 in Paris yesterday. He went into the water 7 times. That’s simply appalling: 24 shots off the pace from one round. Think it’s time he left the tour.
He’s no longer on the tour. He only gets to play in the French Open because he won it in 1990. They were saying on Sky Sports yesterday that it could have been a worse score…apparently Walton putted quite well yesterday!
Ah right. That’s a shocking effort though - how can a pro (presume he’s still a club pro) play so badly? He was always a little odd in the head though, or so he came across anyway.
Yeah it was a truly shocking performance. As far as I know he tries for his tour card every year but he relies on invitations to play in European Tour events. He was always a bag of nerves…hence the pendulum putter. Amazing how some golfers fall from the top so dramatically…Ian Baker Finch, Seve etc.
