Bad as that was, the bigger controversy was when he got player of the year in 94 and didn’t get an all-star. Due to the selection process at the time, his vote was split between left and right half back

I still feel it was unfair at the time. to question Davie Clarke (as many people did) actually getting an All Star that year because he was outstanding and fully deserved it IMO
Perhaps Whelehan should have been picked instead of Kevin Kinahan - or was that back in the days when you were nominated for a specific position, rather than generic defenders, midfielders and forwards?

Kinahan deserved his All Star.
As Clarkey has said many times “I’m happy to swop the All Star with Brian for the All Ireland medal”.
