How Hannon hasn’t been nominated for HOTY is beyond me
Byrnes and Nash to split the vote. TJ to win.
The GAA has the oxygen mask out. The life support is being cranked up.
In the absence of GAA activity, association football has had the way clear to captivate the hearts and minds of all of Ireland since early August (it’s not supposed to do so until the clocks go back* at the end of October).
To try and keep itself in the news, in some small way, the GAA has had:
Managerial Merrygoround Season (Max Power version)
Transfer season
List season
Viciously Assaulting Referees Just To Keep Us In The News Season (though it could be fairly argued that this season is always in progress).
Now we do AWARDS SEASON.
What’s left to do to keep the GAA in the news?
Strike season?
GAA star in court on assault charges season?
GAA star in court on drugs charges season?
Junket to Fenway Park season?
It’s sad this is what it’s come to.
Ireland is Premier League country.

Wait until the Limericks (copyright @gilgamboa) realise Darragh Fitzgibbon has been nominated in midfield ahead of Darragh O’Donovan.
Some token Carkie nominated just to make up the numbers for individual awards is of little concern to us at this stage, good to see the weaker counties such as WX and WH being recognised with a little pat on the head all the same.
Unbelievable omission. We’re more focused on the team rather than the individual though.
I’d say the four time All Ireland medallist is seething this morning.
We’ll keep following the process and see where it takes us.
Great to see some of the lesser lights acknowledged there, there’s some great hurling people in those counties.
As the great Joe Canning said “even Wexford”
Joe is always very generous with his time.
Hopefully he’ll be presenting the medals to the boys out in The Manor in December.
Shur in 2014 a team in the bottom half of Breheny’s definitive ranking of teams nearly won the All Ireland. Standard was shocking back then.
Darragh Fitzgibbon is from Limerick mate
I mean it is a bit odd; Fitzgibbon had a very poor year by his standards. Luke Meade, when he returned, made a massive impact for Cork.
Also, Wexford seem a little under-represented too.
Dunno what Fitzgibbon did to deserve a nomination. I thought he was pretty poor this year.
What’s the name of the big chap that did untold in the semi and final for Limerick? Number 10. How come he didn’t get a HOTY nomination?
You surely know who Gearoid Hegarty is?
That’s the one, that fella. He has a bit about him.
Will the all conquering Limerick team get a fair crack of the whip with the All Stars this year or will it be a case of having to settle for the 12 or so again.
The former HOTY? Are you on drugs?
