Can’t really not put anything on Mayo @ 11/4.
Their record v Donegal and at The Hyde is exceptional and they should want it more than Donegal given their position. Paddy Durcan is a huge in for them shown by the last day. 1pt
Mayo HTFT @ 6/1 too for 0.5pts.
Same idea with Wexford v Limerick. The odds aren’t as good but Wexford won the shot count convincingly when they played in the league final, they conceded a few bad goals alright but it’s a total 50/50 game in my book. (1)
Wexford HTFT @9/2 (0.5)
Done a 0.5 pt double of the win & the HTFT double too.
Armagh at 6/4 is decent value. Now I know what you’re thinking: Armagh won’t be motivated as much as Galway and don’t need to the win. But this Galway side are still a rabble at the back and have a nice consistency in shipping soft goals since the Rossie match. They also want to get gametime into RO’N before the two week break they’ll have against a battle-hardened side. I don’t think Armagh need to hit 3rd gear to win if Galway play the way they did for the majority of the Derry match.
Mayo havn’t lost a championship match in the Hyde for 21yrs. I wouldn’t be brimming with hope. Yes, Mayo havn’t been great, and are somewhat depleted…but on their day, can take a massive scalp. I’ve a feeling they’ve got a bounce off Rochford taking full control as well.
As posted above, a cavan win and a Donegal loss. Not impossible, but is the last time Cavan beat Tyrone in the 1940’s? Something like that. However, we’ve seen unexpected results in the new format. More injuries as a result of a condensed calendar and less moments for players to catch their breath.
If we had any other manager, and a reliance on another result to not sink us…I’d definitely be worried, but the optimist in me, if we managed to get all our injuries cleared up and it staying that way, I think Jimmy could use the Tyrone loss in a manner in which Dublin used our 2014 beating of them to propel them to glory.
However, Murphy aside…I’d definitely question the steel in this squad in comparison to the men who last lifted Sam for us.
Going to have a cut at a few unders in the football, especially in Newbridge with the hurling on before it. Offaly v Kildare seems to be priced based on the league final total. Absolutely horrific conditions tonight.
Optimism/ faith in the Fancy Dans appears to be thin on the ground.
John Daly at centre back is the key to ye’re future survival. He’s injured I presume.
Galway need to win here to restore their customary swagger and confidence.
