The tried and trusted route for a UL Fitzgibbon Cup hurler is to do a four year course first and then another two to become a teacher.
Plus access to the best sports facilities in Ireland.
Also UL is great craic
The craic must be very good in Stables to attract all these fellas
Accom in Limerick has went through the roof. Id say it’s on a par with other cities bar Dublin at this point.
It’s a brilliant college. Far more personable than the big, soulless buildings in UCD where most people hang around with lads they knew from home.
UL with a full forward line tonight of Darragh McCarthy, Aidan O Connor and Adam Screeney.
I mean FFS.
Oisin O’Donoghue with 3-05. He could end up the best of the whole lot of them.
Out of the full side I reckon Adam English, but yes OOD is a gem
Mark Fitz is a class act, he’d be my favourite of them
I always wonder about this. Do lads improve by being in an environment of better players and training with them every day of the week while sacrificing game time. Or are they better to be the better player in a weaker college or school getting more gametime but with less quality players around them. Am sure the answer is somewhere in the middle.
Spent 45 mins debating this in our GAA mentor pre season meeting last night
And did ye decide the lad went into your 5th or 6th team?
5th, and also went forward for the Dublin O Byrne Cup panel.
What was the outcome?
The likes of Crokes and Boden must lose some
Amount to potential . in general terms a lad dominating at 12 won’t be the guy dominating at 19/20 and meanwhile the slow developer has probably lost interest as playing on lower team ls
Creates a lot more issues than having to pick a team of 15 from 15 lads .
I’m sorry lads, I know a few of ye are going to disappointed, but you all have to start.
I was talking to a lad from such a club and congratulated him for still playing first team well into his forties . He told me the only way he was ever getting off the first team was by finding his replacement !
We scaled it on the ferocity of the response of the u12s parent.
