You’re hardly surprised by that are you.
I think Wicklow got a good few as well from my knowledge of it.
I was too young to understand.
The locals got land also but I suppose they still despised them.
They might have got 10-15 acres.
Not a whole pile to raise a family on.
I think in fairness they were provided with mostly parcels of land just short of 40 acres but you wouldn’t do a lot on the acreage you mentioned.
Incredibly more than 60 years later locals here refer to fields calling them “McGowan’s land or Gildea’s land” despite those families ensconced in Meath or wherever for 2 generations. Old habits….
Cork to score more than 2 goals is 7/2
Assuming they are trying that is a fair price
Was it only 60 years ago it happened? Who took the land they left behind or were they people without land?
Did any of them make good hurlers?
9-2 in PP
None in our area anyway, no.
They were from football country originally where there was no hurling. Meath done very well in that regard from those resettled. Matty Kerrigan & Colm O Rourke for starters.
Boyles have odds up for over pts, there might be a bit of value in Conor Burke over 2.5/3.5/4.5/5.5/6.5 pts…
2.5 is 3/1 and it goes up to 40/1…
He is named at midfield and rarely a game goes by where he doesn’t have 4 or 5 shots, accuracy isn’t always brilliant but definitely value in it.
I’ve 1pt invested spread across the various markets.
It was around us in the 1940/50’s and the land the left was divided amongst the neighbouring farmers. The Land Commission did their best to keep the parcelling to equal portions but as ever one lad got a bigger field than somebody else fuelling resentments in places.
We were spared all that shit because what was on offer wasn’t worth tormenting yourself about. It’s difficult to improve 10 acres of whins or rushes.
What’s the weather like in Limerick gents, is there a strong wind?
Tis windy enough in town, I imagine it’ll be worse in the Gaelic Grounds as it tends to be.
Looks to be blowing into the City End looking at flags behind TG4 set up.
it’s windy alright. flags blowing strong. wind coming from west as per usual (left to right on TV picture)
Fucking hell Crummy, tell us which way yer playing.
Clare with the wind
It should die down a bit soon, but it’s worse than I expected.
And was forecast…
Is it me or has the ref been in the way about 3 times. Power had to turn back there because he was in the way of a pass.
