The further the team drifts over the hill the more they spend on a management team in the forlorn hope they can get another tune from them. I saw 4 Kilcoo lads playing for Down u20s tonight, they were hammered by Cavan with no real cause for optimism evident. They had a Ward playing midfield, pristinely turned out and sent off early in the 2nd half.
A lovely example here of the “This does nothing for…” GAA cliche. Even if it isn’t an example because the person doesn’t actually write the words “this does nothing for…”
They instead write the closely related variant “How does this promote…?”
“What does this do for…?” is another closely related variant.

I’m fairly sure he’s got that completely backwards.
In the situation that Ryan is talking about there, it’s the GAA themselves (via the county boards) that will be taking the hit, not managers, coaches, etc.
It will probably mean there will be tighter rules going forward alright.
But, in the event that no tax was paid by the GAA/county boards, it would have been the responsibility of Kev & the likes to pay their own tax on their earnings as any sole trader would (for amount in excess of allowable expenses).
He would presumably be doing it as part of his general work anyway, and there wouldn’t be any issue here if he was.
But it seems like the GAA will be assuming those liabilities for the years in question.
