Gaa split season, promoting concerts, Leeds United v Manchester United exhibition match, American Football and ladies boxing in Croke Park in August and September and now clashing with Pattern Sunday in St Mullins (Part 1)

Kev knew

A dog will a mallet in its hole would know that

Incidentally Rob Hennelly spent 17 years travelling from Dublin to Mayo 3 times a week. If ever a man deserved his medal.

Credit to all the Mayo players crediting those that went before them, especially those still in the bubble. They’re good lads

The big take out from all that is Kev can claim a slice of the credit for the Mayo All Ireland win?

Very much so.

Yeah. Glad getting released by sligo rovers didnt destroy him

That interview between joe and andy was fantastic listening.

Ultimately Kerry hit the wall.

Tom O’Sullivan was basically injured all year after the Club Championship, Dylan Geaney was only limping around the place on Sunday and my understanding is that Paul Geaney was injured too and that’s why he wasn’t there in the end-game to kick a two pointer.

Its unsustainable with the amount of matches being played now for fellas to keep going.

Interesting too that the Brigid’s lads were nowhere to be seen for Roscommon for the most part this year.

Shane Walsh, Conor Glass, Con O’Callaghan and Canavan x2 from Tyrone are other high profile players to be more or less operating at 50-60% since going on long club runs in the split season era.

He can go and shite.

Did Rory Fallon kick a ball for Roscommon?

Armagh and Donegal hit the wall in mid June. Galway were beaten by no more than a game effort in the last 15 minutes by a moderate Dublin team.

It’s entirely about legs now.

Tyrone weren’t far away from winning this All-Ireland.

As you said on Sunday, the 20’s were supposed to be Kerry’s decade. It must be killing them that they’ve allowed moderate enough Tyrone, Armagh and Mayo teams nip in for one. Dessie Farrell has 2 titles the same as this reincarnation of Jack O’ Connor at present. It doesn’t reflect overly well on them. I genuinely think they should let Tómas have a go at it now that he’s won a 20’s All-Ireland.

You’d wonder what Jack was thinking going so strong for the McGrath cup in January? 2026 McGrath Cup Football Final – Cork 0-16 Kerry 0-15 - Munster GAA

He brought on Burns that day and brought him on again on Sunday. The conveyor belt needs checking again if Burns is who they have to turn to when they need some inspiration.

Sure that’s nobody’s fault but Jack O’Connor. Tom O’Sullivan and Dylan Geaney playing meaningless league games a month after winning the club AI.

The same dinosaur had players playing McGrath and Sigerson games on the same day in the recent past

The Malachy O’Rourke/Ryan Porter ‘roast dinner cooking’ approach to preparing their teams is actually the way to go in Football now since you can’t get knocked out before June.

Without doing anything in the League these past couple of years, they made a semi final in 2025 and did everything but beat Kerry in 2026.

Dublin were only messing about for most of this year but when they suddenly took interest they could easily have ended up winning it out.

Your Roscommon’s/Meath’s/Donegal’s and even Armagh’s who were flat to the mat in spring all blew up spectacularly in May/early June.

The microwaved approach is still needed in Hurling though since you can be knocked out in April if your ducks aren’t in a row.

These three All-Ireland rounds before the quarter-finals are all about getting through and getting match fit. If you’re match fit before that you’re in trouble.

He cut him off the panel not a million years ago

If Kerry had held onto mark o Connor they’d probably at least three more all Irelands and stopped the five in a row.

100%, Kerry could have easily survived in Division 1 without playing those lads.

Did you forget Joe O’Connor and Sean O’Shea picking up long term injuries in Kerry training camp in Portugal?
