From a county perspective Liam Collins was the best forward on display though Burns had a fine gake too. Morgan for Loughrea looked good at times. Tiernan Killeen didnt really stand out to be honest. One of the midfielders (Hanrahan) looked decent too.
Shocking lack of badmind on display there
The two kids from loughrea and cappataggle 4.
The villages are gone the way of the dodo. The badmind with it.
Was sickened to not be there in person yesterday but looked a savage turnout. Hearty congrats to @mikehunt on the win.
Not sure there’s too many lads not featured already for Galway that’d have that next gear required for intercounty but hopefully the likes of Burns, Shaughnessy and Morgan get a look-in over the Winter as they stood out to me all year.
You’d feel for Cappy. They pulled off two almighty shocks but I hope this year will re-energise them for a few more years because they’re serious fun with firepower like Ja Mannion and Liam Collins.
I was talking to a Galway club hurler up here lately who was saying Collins has put on a fair bit of bulk. Is there any chance at all he could make an impression at intercounty level, or is he still miles off it physically due to what the modern game has been turned into?
He’ll never be the tallest but even as a slip of a lad he has tremendous strength. I’ve seen him mug off plenty of more physical opponents. He seems to just get injured at the worst time at intercounty. I’d fancy him to feature more prominently if he stays fit.
Loughrea just did enough. They were able to tag on a burst of scores when they needed them. Don’t think they ever looked in danger.
One of the great full-backs by all accounts, the aul lad raves about him. He nearly died some years back in a slurry pit accident, which took the life of his son. A heartbreaking story, may they both rest in peace.

He had a big event held in his honour last week so at least he knew how much he meant to Milltown and Galway football as a whole before he passed.
May he Rest in Peace. My auld fella always raved about him as well.
James Laffey wrote about him thoroughly in his brilliant book ‘Will Galway beat Mayo’. One of the best GAA books I’ve read.
