Galway - quadruple travails part 2

Don’t think Salthill will be too happy that ref didn’t play advantage for that last foul. They had possession and were away. Ref pulled them back for the free. Was always a difficult one even with the wind.

Peter Cooke’s late show earns Moycullen second Galway SFC crown in three years

Peter Cooke of Moycullen in action against Eoghan Deeley

Moycullen 1-10 Salthill/Knocknacarra 1-09

Moycullen captured their second Galway SFC title in three years when a late goal from Peter Cooke snatched victory in a tense final at Pearse Stadium.

They were made battle all the way by John O’Mahony’s Salthill/Knocknacarra but came good when it mattered most in front of a crowd of around 6,000.

And unlike two years ago when they won their maiden title during Covid, thousands of Moycullen supporters were on hand this time as they claimed the Frank Fox Cup.

Salthill/Knocknacarra led by 1-05 to 0-06 at the break despite playing against the strong wind but they too failed to make it count when it was in their favour.

Not exactly stellar by the cĂșlbaire there. Half-heartedly came but never got near it. In fairness to Cooke it was a 30/70 chance against him but he went for it. The sub who hoofed it it will be telling all how he’d spotted the run from Cooke and picked him out

Fucking keeper

Maigh Cuillin giving keepers the heebee geebees 2 Sundays in a row

Harsh blaming Lavelle imo, Cooke is about a foot taller than him.

I don’t recall blaming him? But now you mention it
there was a rush of blood to his head. The ball was going away from Cooke and there were defenders coming in under it.

The effort by no.6 there at recovering the situation was feeble enough, it still hadn’t crossed the line when he drew a kick on it so he could have been a hero if he threw himself at it.

Good enough for the Turlougheen cunts

And to think @peddlerscross had them in as his tip for county champions off the back of a freak result against St. Thomas. I think @flattythehurdler was saying they had plenty of steel as well. Not much of it on display today, and you’d suspect that that loss will set them back. Loughrea are well-placed to upset teams now. Hardy and dogged, as you’d expect, and now they’ve learned how to score. They’ll give Clarinbridge bags of it in the SF.

Very likely

You can’t tell some lads

Looking at it again out of curiosity they made a balls of it. It’s a Hail Mary ball that had at least 4 defenders and a goalie in complete charge (or should have been). Goalie roars Mine and the full back gives the red lad a bit of a dunt and they’re champions

That’s the oul’ kinda shite our lads get caught up in
