Galway - quadruple travails part 2

There’s a lovely bit of anti bridge bile on the hurling forum. You love to see it.

"Second best teams don’t blow big leads like that backed by a breeze. Ridiculous to say they’re better than Thomas too on player quality and recent results.

I’ll start by saying Gavin Lee isn’t the solution to six and a blind man can see that. Not our manager though - who is conveniently from the same club.

10 of the 26 this weeknd are from Clarinbridge or Turloughmore. Two teams who continously show they dont have the stones to get it done. Manager and trainer are from there though….draw your own conclusions."

Quality.

Imagine what they’d say if Galway lost.

Where’s this Welsh cup final on. Dublin? Could be a bumper weekend of Galway hurling and coppers

Parnell on Saturday afternoon

He had to be seen to move on from the 2017 brigade?

How many Loughrea lads will be involved this year?

Surprisingly few saw action last year really.

Would Morrissey be seen as a guaranteed starter?

I’m all for moving on but Lee hasn’t even nailed down a place yet I think. Morrissey is a serviceble defender, maybe a leader behind the scenes…

Keep an eye out for young shaughnessy on Sunday. Missed the semi but should have a say.

He has an unreal turn.

Lee has high opinions.

I like Morrissey but wouldn’t consider him a leader in any metric, even for Sars.

Did he captain ye to a minor all Ireland in 17? I know, minor…

He did indeed and there’s an argument that captain nowadays is all optics anyways so you don’t need to be a leader of men. Even though Morrissey has been around for about 7 years at senior now I wouldn’t have viewed him as much more than an honest hurler than goes about his business quietly.

Martin Johnson was similar until he wasn’t.
Tbh you could put a combination of Ghandi and Hitler in charge and it’d make little difference.

Galway hurlers will foreseeably remain at the level they are until they find another Cyril Farrell. They can produce all the minors in the world, craftsmen like Joe and out and out warriors like David Burke but the internecine nature of their mentality will forever mitigate against them.

In a way there’s a whiff of Dublin footballers off them. Basket cases until Heffo took over and got a tune out of them before the next Great Depression. Galway’s 2017 victory almost equates to Dublin’s 1995 success - a solitary rosebush blossoming on top of a dunghill….

Dublin found their man and reaped the rewards, abetted by some of the best to ever adorn Croke Park - Galway, in both codes, need new leaders.

Are you forgetting who the manager was in 2017? I agree re PJ alright.

Eoghan ó Donnell back in the dublin squad. At least he realised his mistake that he’s not a county footballer
