Straight red for Peter Cooke, sounds harsh
He deserved it. Kneed a lad in the ribs right in front of the ref. I told ye this Cooke was a cod too…
Probably deserved it. Was wrestling on the ground with the Monaghan player and Cooke tried to get up but the Monaghan player was holding onto him so Cooke dropped the knee into him. Ref was only 10 feet away staring at them the whole time. Incredible stupidity from Cooke.
Poor game again. Don’t think Galway have hit a single kick out long. All short ones. And they aren’t pushing up on the the Monaghan kick outs either so Monaghan are doing the exact same. Makes for very turgid fare.
They’re actually in a bit of bother if they lose this. With Armagh away and Kerry left to play.
Down our starting midfield now, in big trouble here and in the league if we lose. I’d expect a Shane Walsh sighting after the break
That said Conor Lane is giving Monaghan some amount of soft frees. Any contact and he’s blowing it up.

Sure it was from Div 2 that they made their run last year, tis hardly much trouble if they find themselves back in it again. I’d say Joyce is happy enough with how the league is going, blooding a few and the main lads getting a rest. Could have done with finding another forward though, none of the lads tried have made much of an impression.
Monaghan 6 very lucky not to have picked up a second yellow card there.

Very bad this second half
Very impressive 2nd half by Galway in fairness. With only 14 men. Something more like the Galway we saw last year. To come from 2 points down with only 14 to win by 6 is good going.
Shane looks fairly rusty after his world tour. Dropped a couple shots short that he’d usually nail.
