Brilliant article from David Quinn

It would be an affront to democracy if FG try to form a government including labour.

Why?

That article is terrible, pure nonsense.

In the 2007 election between FF, FG & the PD’s there were 130 seats. The left (Labour/SF) had 24 and the Greens wherever you want to categorise them had 6. Others had 5. So of the 166 at least 78% were right wing.
In the 2011 election FF & FG had 96 seats of 166 so only 57% were right wing. Labour mopped up a lot of the previously centre votes to increase their seats.
In 2016 the two main parties only marginally increased their seats to 58%. Their share of the FPV actually fell by 4%.
Technically you could say then that the centre parties held fine. But in reality labour were seen as only marginally left of centre and as such were a comfortable home for the stray centre voters in 2011.
When Labour failed in 2016 these stray centre voters DID NOT return to the centre parties, they went FURTHER left than they had previously, or for those who weren’t comfortable with that they went independent.
The voters in the country went decidedly more left than they had previously ever dared. That’s the earthquake, not that FF & FG swapped a few seats between them.

There are a significant number of right-sided independents. Lord Lowry, Mattie & the HealyRae twins are not going to lead protest marches on Leinster Hosue

A pro drink driving protest coming to a town near you soon.

A load of culchies get smashed and drive to Dublin

If it’s any consolation, the Spanish haven’t agreed on a Government three months after their election.

Fine Gael have to look at every avenue to form a government, as every decent politician has to as there may well be another run at the polls soon.

Given the Indo are a pro Blueshirt paper why they come out with lines like ‘cling to power’ baffles me.

WOULD SF VOTE FOR FF :eyeglasses:

They’re a pro-Fine Gael and Fianna Fail paper/papers.

They’re pro in the sense that they will never give SF or the proper left a decent headline.

But they so have a tendency to still regularly rubbish the parties they are supposed to be cheerleaders for. The article on the front page is sensationalist nonsense. Sells papers I guess.

That’s something between tuesday and Thursday. Do you mean Wednesday,?

SF talk true their holes people like @ChocolateMice @Nembo_Kid @Sidney. Falls for it a party that is afraid to be in power because they know their not up to it.

so FF will play dumb if we do not get the big job
