Already voted for Trevor O’Clochartaigh in the affluent Galway West constituency, pal.

I’ll be getting the bus up later to vote for Eoin O’Broin in working class Dublin Mid-West.

What time do festivities begin on the telly tomorrow?

9am Saturday to 3am on Sunday. I would plan to see it out at 3am, drunken posting could escalate nicely late tomorrow night and Sunday morning.

There will be epic posting on here tomorrow night. I must start a row with the wife so that she goes off to bed and leaves me alone.

The best celebrations of the last election were Jonathan O’Brien and his comrades in Cork North Central belting out Amhrán na BhFiann and A Nation Once Again with tricolours being waved proudly and aggressively. And Ming Flanagan’s unbelievably sweaty shirt armpits out West as he punched the air repeatedly while being carried aloft in the Count Centre. Massive Camachos on him.

General Election counts are one of the great set pieces of Irish life. Some weekend ahead. Giddy.

Repeatedly hitting refresh on Twitter for this exit poll result. Reminds me of the Diarmuid Connolly and Tiernan McCann appeals, and refreshing Ceefax to get the score from the 1996 Scottish Cup quarter-final between Celtic and Dundee United. I’d given it up when it got to 4:51pm and Celtic were losing 1-0. Van Hooijdonk and Thom’s injury time goals to win it 2-1 were incredible moments when viewed on the highlights later. But they were best viewed through the medium of Ceefax.

And there it is.

Blueshirts OUT.
