Harris would probably have lost the no confidence motion. Varadkar alluded to fact that arithmetic in the Dail had changed. By calling the election he has saved Harris political career.
Disagree. Leo is a good campaigner and excellent speaker. His responses are excellent and follow a formula.
- Show a bit of empathy and agree there is some problem.
- Outline some tangential progress which FG have made.
- Express the opinion that FG need more time to deal with it properly.
Unfortunately it’s all bullshit and his words mean nothing. He’s a snake. Thankfully, he’s an arrogant cunt and doesn’t realise how much his glib pronouncements piss people off. And the black and tan thing has really landed with people.

He’s still throwing the blame on everything on FF. Martin is far more appealing to the public IMHO but he doesn’t have the candidates in FF to back him up.
Coveney was a different class speaking about the Northern Assembly on Friday, capable and assured and able to deal with the ambushes of the interviewer superbly. I’ve change my opinion on him completely, thought he was a complete pleb previously.
The most interesting thing is going to be who drives the line for the Social Democrats. They’ll be running more and more candidates and need to drive homer their message. Murphy and Shortall are good and they have excellent policies but neither has gone on the attack enough. Losing Donnelly was a hammer blow for them and they need a replacement.
The Greens will suffer, ironically like FG, until they can find a way to appeal to the agricultural sector without leaving voters in fear of their livelihood. Smart alternatives to traditional methods are key.
SF will have to rely on MLMD not saying stupid stuff too much if they want to hold their ground and as for Labour, who cares anymore?

they may well follow a formula in the safe embrace of RTE but when the pressures on, the smugness and total lack of empathy come to the fore. martin will annihilate him on H2H debates.
coveney is the top performer in that cabinet by a good distance. a very capable and hardworking man, even if hes a carkie
I’m lucky to have some big hitters in the Cork South Central constituency with Simon C and Mícheál M as well as Michael McGrath. But the left will get the attention they deserve too.
Top three in no particular order if/when I’m doorstopped:
- Health/HSE/the Trolly Crisis
- Housing and policy around the State building council homes for the 3k children without a home - the adults with no kids can wait.
- The Black and Tan debate - need to know the candidates stance on this, I’ll ask as an open question and see what response comes back.
Again, i think he handles himself pretty well in debates. Certainly against Martin. Would rather that it was Mary Lou who hammered him. Her direct style and starkly outlining thw types of social injustice that aexists is the sort of thing he finds it hard to slither away from.

he doesnt come across well in dail debates when things are going his way. he comes across as petulant, arrogant and uncaring. more interested in scoring points than doing whats right.
