You think she needs to refer to a race to be racist? Dear oh dear. You think the word deprogrammed was the issue and it would have been grand otherwise? Dear oh dear.
Is racism a Wexford thing?
Sorry pal.
I couldnt be arsed to even converse with you.
You are entitled to your opinion and i am equally entitled to disregard it.
So it’ll have to be within 30 days of today?
What was the issue so?
@Sidney or other election nerds, have we had many elections in a February and how did the sitting government fair in them? The general consensus seems to be it’s better for a Government to go to the polls in the summer?
For the past 10 years they have consistently said they wont go into government with Sinn Fein, yet one the first barbs that they always throw is that Sinn Fein are a afraid to go into Government
Verona Murphy: “a big part of the migrant population” in Ireland consists of Islamic State (ISIS) supporters.
She followed it up with a whole pile of anti immigrant nonsense. She was always going to get attention for that.
And they have criticised Sinn Fein for not being part of the power sharing executive in the 6 counties.
A quick google answers this.
There’s been 7 of the 32 elections held in February, including the last two, so actually quite a high number.
All bar one have resulted in a change of Government. That one that didn’t being the most recent.
FG are winning 4-3 in who’s in power after a February election, so considering they’ve won much less elections as a whole Feb has been a decent month for them.
She’s right insofar as better vetting needs to be done with all asylum seekers… I’ve heard some shocking stories from people on the front line.
But she may be dialling it in a bit here… Have you evidence to counter her?
It’s the same old barbs and talking points. The only time politicians are honest and let their guard down is the 12.30pm-4pm window on the day after the election when a stream of them are wheeled into the RTE studio for 30-45 minute stints with Dobbo before being replaced by the next batch of panelists.
The vanquished speak openly about why their message didn’t register with voters and so on. Before it and after it, most of them defend the indefensible and deal in avoidance and whataboutery. It’d be refreshing if some of them acknowledged certain failings and outlined specific plans to do better and/or actually admitted they didn’t know the exact answer to a question instead of waffling on with irrelevant shit to play for time.
The day after the election is the best non sporting TV/radio there is
Based on briefings with Interpol and M15 - but sure you know more.
I’m going to be completely transparent here and say the Verona worked with Dad and it was from there that she got the interest in studying law. He would never have associated himself with anyone racist was renowned for fighting for the rights of minorities throughout his legal career. Right up to his passing he was very close to her.
She’s no more racist that any of the rest of us on here are.
Her quotes:
"These people are coming from such war-torn countries that they have to be deprogrammed, for the want of a better word, but through support services.
"They carry angst that you wouldn’t ordinarily see, possibly infiltrated by ISIS and we have to protect ourselves against that.
"There are support services available, but they have to be available as much as the accommodation.
“Do not house those people where those support services are not readily available.”
I’m not sure what you’re trying to convey here, your post is disorganised and garbled. Perhaps you’re just phoning it in.
Have you evidence to counter her?
