General Election 2020 Hub

He did not :open_mouth:

I don’t think that’s entirely correct. Connolly, the lock out, the rising. Have you read the proclamation? After the crushing of the rising the principles of the signatories of the movement gave way to the overall goal of independence at all costs. Then the civil war tore the country down the middle and left people liked up on one side or another for generations.

I said since the formation of the state. Labour was effectively dead after the 1921 election which they didn’t contest.

The boom is back

That is top banter

I never realised you were such a great age. Surely the only centurion on the forum?

Ah yes indeed I didn’t spot that. I think that for much of that time labour simply weren’t relevant to most people, because of history and how the state developed. That they haven’t managed to make themselves relevant in the last decade or 20 years shows up how useless they are in my opinion. Not that any other parties are better mind. The social democrats haven’t gotten much support yet but are able to articulate a vision for a difference in how Ireland should be governed. In my memory labour have never been able to do that.

You’ve a short memory

Perhaps. I’d be quite left leaning in my views. Labour would be the natural party I’d lean to. The only time I can remember them making clear promises before an election they subsequently went into government with FG and broke all of them.

You fail to remember they were a party of a Rainbow Coalition government that did great work until the FF party promised the sun, moon & stars to get back in.

They lack leadership & are tanking because of it. I like Howlin but he is weak at getting any points across. Alan Kelly needed to get that gig.

There’s 47square meters of a road facing extension that serves as reminder to people in portmarnock that Labour were part of he rainbow coalition

.

I’m too young to remember anything the rainbow coalition did or didn’t do. I agree Kelly should have gotten it, he’d have kept them relevant anyway.

I didn’t know the answer. Dickhead

You rattled the fuck out of him there without even trying

:scream:

You need to get the tape measure out again fella. A longer one.

They're back

They decided to put a tax in children’s shoes. Not John Brutons finest hour.

In all fairness, it’s not too far off it.
