even if companies should pay more tax (but certainly not enough to tempt them to move elsewhere or we’re screwed) they still contribute, they employ people whos paid taxes keep the country going. But lifelong dolers contribute nothing, and if you want a functioning society everyone needs to see that people are buying in and trying their best to better themselves. Other wise whats the incentive to work?
Similar with housing, yes mortgages are too hard to come by and people struggled with negative equity, but why should people put themselves through decades of hardship saving and paying for houses when people who came up through the same education system, in the same schools as them even, just want to sit back do nothing and demand the house next to them because they are (not) homeless due to their life decisions.
What you and the populist left hoping for magic beans don’t get is that the middle class will never support full handouts for people who have no interest in bettering themselves and raising their kids right. Nor should they.

It’s funny that people genuinely believe other people should work all day and pay taxes to fund the lifestyle of lads who stay in bed all day. Taxes should pay for the elderly the sick the kids but some lads think they should get a free house off the back of their neighbors graft.

Ireland is the only country in the world i can think of where shoulders are shrugged at people who never make an effort and choose welfare forever.
