Gerry Conlon RIP

I remember he was interviewed not long after his release and said he had some land bought in Clare and was going to build a house there.

was John Stokes involved in the Guilford pub bombings?

Isn’t Hill living in the States? Didn’t know of any Clare link

I heard before he lived up doolin way for a while.

It was on again on Miriam’s show this morning so I’m sure you can listen back to it on their player today.

On a slightly related note I was reading an article a few weeks back detailing the events leading to the death of Jim Lyangh’s brother, Michael. Think it happened sometime back in 80s. The Gardai and Special Branch come across as an awful evil shower of cunts in it.

Yes. He spent time there when he was married to Courtney Kennedy.

That is correct.

Gene Kerrigan devoted a substantial chapter of Hard Cases to the Michael Lynagh story back in the 90’s. It’s well worth a read. The arms of The State come out of it very badly.

Interesting, what is the subject of the book?

It covers some major & some quickly forgotten scandals (Shercock Gardai, Greencore, the illegal detention of women during the visit of Reagan in 1984), along with some more personal stories about those mistreated at the hands of the state. Lynagh features in this section.

The first half of the book is about the O’Grady kidnap in 1986.
