Heās some man for his age.
Nice set up in Kilmainham as well.
Itās a great spot for gigs.
Going to this in a few weeks. Couldnāt give a shit about the other bands, only want to see Nada Surf, Wilco, and Jesus and Mary Chain
Ash are playing in a small place next week, the size of your average pub in Ireland, but I will miss it. Would be good to see them in a small venue. Tim Burgess also playing in the same joint for the same festival, some small one sponsored by a beer company.
Thatās sounds the biz⦠I was meant to go to wilko in Paris a few years back but covid put an end to that
Nada Surf
I only found out recently that Ric Ocasek produced this.
And most of the words are taken straight out of a book from the 1960s.
Popular was the one that really took off for them, I think it was used in a TV show at some point?
I saw them in Whelans around the time of āLet Goā, early 00ās. Its a brilliant album, the first 7 or 8 tracks hold up anywhere (apart from maybe Fruit Fly) and they were excellent live. I think they played again recently enough, must keep an eye out for them again.
I have seen them before, in Vicar St a long time ago now. I havenāt really tuned into their last few albums. Too many mid paced acoustic Americana type numbers. Still, they should be good live.
Something Happens. Now. Whelans.
Blonde on Blonde and Blizzard of 77 from that album are great tunes. Only ever had a passing interest in that band but a friend of mine is obsessed with them. So much so that I think they know him by first name
Kim Deal tonight.
This is on the setlist.
Km was excellent tonight.
A few things:
- Sheās much smaller than I thought
- She looks well for her age
- Sheās a bit all over the place but ridiculously talented and the voice of an angel
Kylie?
Kim Deal Iād imagine
No big deal
Brought Mrs Cauli down tonight for her birthday.
Great show. Band was great including Rob Bochnik (of The Frames amongst other things). Even the horns section for Gigantic worked well. New album sounded good live. Lots of smiling from the band. Kim was 62 last week according to Mrs Cauli.
I never check a setlist in advance of a gig !
Oh I do.
āIāve wanted horns for the last three decades!ā
I go one further and make a Spotify playlist of the setlist before every gig.
