Conflicting reviews. Iād hold off and see. Not sure it needed a sequel, but Ridley doesnt appear to give a fuck anymore and I applaud him for it. Denzel is the man.

It definitely didnāt need a sequel. And if it did, it definitely didnāt need to be an actual sequel. It could have just been in the timeline after the first one, it didnāt need to be creating made up children

Yes
The first gladiator is vastly over rated. Itās all down hill after the opening battle against the germanic / celtic tribes in the forest.
Although @Ralphie quoting lines from it for T and the guys down at their social club was epic. He took out Georgieās eye with a lock and chain when recreating a scene from the movieā¦ he later beat a pregnant stripper to death for disrespecting him.

When did you last watch it? I realise this is the INTERNET and no one is for changing, but youāre an open minded guy. Iād suggest giving it another run out and seeing as an older man what you might make of it.
Gladiator is one of the most outstanding pieces of media ever put out. I have no doubt, the sequel will have taken some gloss off it in the public eye, but it will remain an important classic. Every man should have a walk through the fields of Val DāOrcia on their bucket list.

I havenāt seen it fully in a long, long time.
Its worth another look maybe. As an older man, I see more and more of myself in Maximus.
id say theres a good few on here who see themselves as marcus aurelius whereas in reality theyre much more like commodus
As I get older again I could see myself becoming more of Antonius Proximo, letting the great whore suckle us until we are fat and happy and can suckle no more.

I always say to myself be like maximus when the middle age/split season / ride on lawn Mower / gaa shorts wearing crew on here all round on me together.
Thereās nothing better than fighting the good fight on your own against the crowd.
