Putting is fickle anyway. There are days when they go in and days when they donāt. Roryās problem is the days they donāt and heās striking the ball so well, he is giving himself loads of chances and he gets down on himself
Yep I get that what you are saying. Sometimes a par is a good score on a hole but McIlroy gets so close with an iron and then doesnāt make the putt. He is heading off the green with his head down.
He is that good tee to green he is making par a bad score in his own head. His stroke is fine. He never misses by much. If he gets 3 days where they sink, heāll win a tournament by 10 shots
Some of his play on the par 5s has been terrible too. Should be nearly making birdie on them all with his distance off the tee. Middle of the fairway on 15 today and ends up outside 20 feet for birdie.
Ya but its middle of the fairway with a long iron or hybrid. Still talking 200+ in. They arenāt robots. Proximity to the hole goes up massively over 200 yards
McIlroyās biggest problem are his wedges inside 100 yards. He is very average
4 or 5 iron for Rory. Should be making birdie 8 or 9 times out of 10 for him.
Whatās the scoring average for pros on par 5s mate? Rory is one of the best in the world on par 5s
15 played easiest hole on the course and 230 yards from middle of fairway. Heās world number one so Iām sure heād expect to make birdie minimum from there.
Putting is something you either have or dont. You probably use it half the time when you are out on course. You might hit the driver 12 or 13 times. The most fundamental aspect of the game I.e putting the ball in the hole is the thing he has the most difficulty with.

I think the tour average is around 60% for 6 feet. I donāt have that level of detail off hand
Just had a look at PGA website, level of stats there is unreal. Heās 219th out of 233 players for putting inside 10 feet. His overall putting stats probably helped by his short game.

Rory is in contention every week and probably only a matter of time before he wins again. Lacks the killer instinct that Tiger had. When he eventually manages to put 4 decent rounds together heāll win by 6+. Iām being critical of him and he still shot 68 and is only 4 shots back.
If tiger ever hit the ball as well as rory heād have won 20+ majors
