Thanks for the heads up. I’ll give that a go. There’s an Irish writer called Ian Gibson living outside Granada as well, has written some books on Lorca.

An acquired taste but my taste. Instantly one of my favourites of all time. Stephen Patrick Morrissey is a big fan apparently.

a great read

I remember watching that live. I was gutted when Lewis was beaten. Great days.

Just purchased Malcolm Gladwell Talking to Strangers (audible) and Robert Harris the second sleep (hardback)

Reading this at moment.

Donal Ryan’s - A Slanting of the Sun.

Absolutely superb.

Donal is a National Treasure.

Some of the stories are excellent. The one about the lady working in the assisted living facility hit me like a tonne of bricks. Did not see that climax coming whatsoever.

I also very much enjoyed the one about the traveller girl and the lad working in the local petrol station.

I finished Sky earlier, a story about a simple lad whose parents died and his sister went abroad with the nephew he was fierce attached to.

He decides in the end to focus on the sky.

The following one in the three bits is mental. Story one - his girlfriend dumps him. Story Two - he’s illegitimate. Story Three - haven’t a clue what’s going on. Must have another read.

Is the Spinning Heart any good?

It’s pretty class.

I love his writing style. He goes around in a loop at the story so you’re never quite sure where you are and then will throw a sentence in off the cuff which completely startles you.

The first story about the suggestion of intimacy between the guy and the mother of the girl he killed in the car crash was genius.

I haven’t read it in a few years but will go back to it tomorrow - great writer

Read it last week, would agree could not understand the lavish praise for it at all

I really enjoyed it.

It’s very good. The thing about December is the best of the lot in my opinion but they are all good.

They are all good
