Good Fillums

Watched this earlier this evening. Good film, some nice twists in it and very dark. Haroldson and Christian Bale are very good in it

Superbad on RTE 2 now.

Sleepless in Seattle on Sky Living. Meg Ryan was utterly gorgeous in her heyday.

My old boss is a good friend of his. He seems sound and very unassuming.

+1

Whenever I dealt with Don in GAA matters he seemed sound and unassuming.

I’ve met Farmer a couple of times. And he seemed sound. But maybe I was drunk. Maybe my senses weren’t what they should be.

Maybe HE’S a cunt.

When you look at the evidence…

Did you test a Blue Pill?

I have consumed many pills. What’s this blue pill you refer to?

I saw him sympathising at a funeral once. Asked to get all the kids attention at the same time before pontificating about what they were feeling.

You’re having pops at a fella mourning the dead?

No. I am having a pop at someone who somehow thinks he is more important than the standard sympathiser that he could address the grief stricken kids as a group as if because he is relatively famous they would want to hear what he had to say.

Piss off!

My boss told me he knew Don.
I said no way! Cyril from Father Ted. Text him and tell him I love him.
My boss texts to say he’s drinking with someone who’s a fan
Don replies: “I have a fan!!!”

Seems sound to me, pal.

I’ve met Don at a social gathering and he came across well. I’m not nailing my colours to the mast either way but the funeral story seems a weak criticism on the face of it. It would be hard enough to talk to a group of children at a funeral of all places without coming across as pontificating.

Are you sure that mate with all the tall tales didn’t tell you this?

Farmer is a tall tale

Two Mules for Sister Sara, just watching the end of it on itv 4 now. Classic film and an utterly brilliant theme tune, recently reused by Tarantino in Django.

The Deer Hunter is showing in the IFI this week. Might go along.

First time I saw the film was in 1982 when I stayed up to watch the Larry Holmes Gerry Cooney world title fight. Rte broadcast the film after midnight to entertain the boxing fans until the fight came on. I watched the film intently for an hour and a half when there was an announcement that there had been a fault at the Ticknock transmitter and viewers in South Dublin had missed some of the film, so they were going to start the film again. I fell asleep during the repeat of the first part of the movie and I awoke to find that I had also missed the fight as there were jubilant scenes in Larry Holmes corner.
