Flight currently on RTE 1. Easily one of the top 5 films I’ve yet seen.
Deserved best picture in 2013 Oscars instead of that soup taker in Lincoln.

Ah here. It’s a 3/5 film.
Aside from yer man’s performance, which merely improved and improved to utter sublimity, I didn’t care for the movie so much as life aquatic, royal tenenbaums or even the hilarious fantastic Mr. Fox.
That being said, there was so much I loved about it. Genius indeed.
‘A Most Violent Year’ * (not very violent)*
Excellent show, touch of The Godfather about it.
As good a film as you are likely to see about home heating oil.
It was TOP.

I thought it was shit - slow, boring and drawn out the trailers are misleading don’t waste yet time watching it
Bet you liked american sniper.
Not particularly
Birdman was exactly as I suspected it would, excellently mental with an outstanding turn from Keaton. In fact all the cast were superb, special mention for Ed Norton whose performance probably wasn’t that much of a stretch for him. An unbelievably mental ending, even given what had gone before, but all in all, a great little film. Great to have Keaton back.
Dunno if its been mentioned here, but watched Edge of Tomorrow/Live Die Repeat/All You Need Is Kill or whatever fucking name they have on it today and thought it was an excellent action film, a very underrated/underseen one from last Summer. One that will become a bit of a cult classic in time I think.
Tom Cruise is excellent in it, he really is a truly splendid actor, just a shame about the all the bat shit craziness thats associated with his personal life, but on the big screen, he rarely fails to deliver. Emily Blunt is superb alongside him and is a serious bit of ass. Tied in with nice cameo’s from Brendan Gleeson and the always reliable (and one of my favouriter 27 per centers) Bill Paxton it really is worth the watch.

Lincoln didn’t win best picture.
Day Lewis is British so is hardly a soup taker
Watched LA Confidential last night, had seen it way back when first released and managed to avoid seeing it since. A damn good picture, although you do need to forget about Farmer Hoggett in Babe.
I have decided to go read some James Elroy.

Ellroy is absolutely fantastic. Make sure and read that LA series in the correct sequence, there are 4 in it including La Confidential and the Black Dahlia.
Just dont watch black dahlia in any sequence

Cruise makes great films alright, seen Jack Reacher last week and thought it was great
Watched American Sniper last night. Thought it was good, above average, but not brilliant. Cooper is very good in it, he’s intense but never goes over the top. Friends who had seen it gave out about the MURICA patriotism in it, but I though it fitted in well with the context of the story. Kyle was clearly motivated to join the SEALs and go to Iraq by a strong love for his country, and it was important to make sure that came across strongly. One thing that lets it down badly is the editing, particularly when the story moves towards his relationship with his wife. Enjoyable all the same though. 7/10
Me and the old man made use of his free travel to get to Dun Laoghaire for some Inherent Vice. I can see how long -term unemployment can become a generational thing.
Great film anyway, hilarious in parts, but with a hugely convoluted plot. That said, it would reward repeated viewings richly. Several phenomenally hot birds in it too.
The film snobs will be along shortly to tell you that you haven’t a clue
Whiplash is fantastic. Go and see it.
Watching The Gambler at the moment. Weak enough.
