Snowpiercer I think it is? Dystopian sci-fi set on a train… trailer looks decent alright
I watched Birdman tonight and found it enjoyable.
It’s not too bad, a post apocalyptic world where nothing can live outside of the train it is set in due to another ice age. Have you seen The Maze Runner? I would put them in slightly similar genres.
Is it light hearted? Serious? Do you need to concentrate on it to follow the story?
The Maze Runner is utter gash.
@Kinvara’s Passion remains a true “Pony & Cart” man, as the urbanites trek westwards…;). Modern westerens are now filmed around Newtownbutler, as the indigenous squabble amomgst themselves as to who will lead the cavalcade.
Well there is your answer so.
Post of the year. I grew up with John Wayne movies, and the auld fella let me watch Clint when a little older. I used to love the Alamo and Rio Lobo when a nipper. Anything got to do with Custer also, think sky showed a multi part show on Custer years back, unreal.
Watched Nightcrawler tonight, decent film, serious performance from Jake Gyllenhall
I watched it earlier also. Couple of lads gave it bad press here so I wasn’t expecting much but it was very enjoyable. A little OTT at times and he came off as a little camp but its a modern day network, 7.6/10.

I enjoyed it pal, Gyllenhaal was excellent in it, off the wall storyline but enjoyable all the same.
The story was fucked but the commentary on the way news is subscribed to and put together was good. You have to admire his PMA tho throughout.

it was class, his character made the whole film, he mugged off his disloyal intern good and proper at the end [/SIZE]
I thought it loved itself too much. Harmless i suppose.
Sharp funny rather than ha ha funny. Relatively serious. You need to concentrate a bit alright. But don’t worry if you don’t pay enough attention or struggle to get it. Just google “what did Birdman mean?” after you watch it.

@Horsebox - was it you who slated nightcrawler?
Yeah I didn’t enjoy it much. The ending was shit as well. However, if I remember correctly I watched it on New Years Day night so I was possibly watching it from the ceiling. I also think Gyllenhaal is an incredibly overrated actor and his character was way over the top in this. I would give it a 5.8/10.
Jake Gyllenhaal is a creep.
His performance has been exaggerated alright but he was still pretty decent. I was expecting it to be utter garbage as I value your opinion really highly, but it was v good in parts- shame it didn’t hold that for more of the movie. It needed to add more into how the news was produced rather than making him out to be a weirdo, we got that part very early on, tried to be a bit too much American psycho.
He still had one or two fantastic scenes - ‘What if my problem wasn’t that I don’t understand people but that I don’t like them? What if I was the kind of person who was obliged to hurt you for this? I mean physically. I think you’d have to believe afterward, if you could, that agreeing to participate and then backing out at the critical moment was a mistake. Because that’s what I’m telling you, as clearly as I can’
’ Now I like you, Nina. And I look forward to our time together. But you have to understand, fifteen thousand isn’t all that I want. From here on, starting now, I want my work to be credited by the anchors and on a burn. The name of my company is Video Production News, a professional news-gathering service. That’s how it should be read and that’s how it should be said. I also want to go to the next rung and meet your team, and the station manager, and the director, and the anchors, and start developing my own personal relationships. I’d like to start meeting them this morning. You’ll take me around, you’ll introduce me as the owner and president of Video Production News, and remind them of some of my many other stories. I’m not done. I also want to stop our discussion over prices. This will save time. So when I say that a particular number is my lowest price, that’s my lowest price and you can be assured that I arrived at whatever that number is very carefully. Now, when I say that I want these things, I mean that I want them and I don’t want to have to ask again. And the last thing that I want, Nina, is for you to do the things that I ask you to do when we’re alone together in your apartment, NOT LIKE THE LAST TIME. So, I’ll tell you what. I have the van crash on Moorpark tonight. It was a couple of stringers actually. That could lead by itself on an average night. I’d be willing to throw that in for free. So what do you say, do we have a deal?’
is American Sniper out yet? I’m reading the book, but he is boring me to death “I shot a load of towel heads” is all he drones on about
