Another lad not working tomorrow….
God love ya. Juhy has it made - he has more summer holidays than secondary school teachers. He’s a male aoife bermingham
Who’s this now? I’ve spent the week being abused by a whatsapp group who reckon i have the life of @spidey anyway…
Juhy doesn’t go on about how he lived abroad in China… much anyway ![]()
Eh… i was the tfk correspondent in Asia… when @Bandage asks you dont say no!
Agreed. Both were very good in it but just a weird little concept movie overall.
Watched Obsession there last night and it warrants the hype. Fantastic stuff and the lead actress really delivers in the creepiness.
Odyssey is class lads. Maybe knocks Prestige off the top of my Nolan list.
Well worth the 3 hours.
Meh. It just lacked dramatic tension. You wouldn’t have to be a student of the classics to know that there were certain trials that had to be undertaken before the set-piece finale, and it took so long to get there. Well-made and acted film aside from that though.
I dunno. There’s always going to be hamfisting like the cyclops, Hades etc but I thought it all built really well and made the last 20 minutes pay-off nicely. There wasn’t really anything I’d take out to shorten it. Feels like Nolan is using all these “world gone to shite” films as an apology of sorts for his Batman trilogy destroying the film industry with comicbook shite
I’d still have Obsession over it as my top film of 2026 so far though.
Looking forward to seeing The Odyssey this Saturday afternoon. Haven’t told the wife yet that it is 3 hours long, hopefully she’ll fall asleep for an hour and not notice.
I thought it was grand. Impressive spectacle and sets and design and all but very laboured and didn’t really come together well. Solid three to three points five stars.
We went to see this historically inaccurate, woke nonsense this evening. I was fairly disappointed. The americanisation of it was grating. Damon is very good, the chap playing the son is not (Mom, Dad, seriously?). Anne Hathaway is incredibly beautiful. The battle scenes are for the most part very good.
Two and a half out of five. Not a filum I’d be overly concerned about seeing again.
You’d wonder if some lads are right in the head. I suppose the lack of Gods made it historically inaccurate.
Sure they left out Odysseus’ affair and son with Circe. How could anyone take it seriously as a historical epic after that?
They didn’t even show Helen hatching from an egg.
It was better than I was expecting, the pigs scene was great craic but they didn’t show Odysseus main flaw from The Odyssey which was his hubris(they hinted at it with him firing the needles arrow at the Cyclops) but ditched the “Nobody” angle & then revealing his name in arrogance which ultimately led to him & his crew being cursed by Poseidon.
I agree the Mom & Dad stuff was cringe it’s not hard to say Mother & Father it just takes you out of the story. Pattinson lapped up playing a total bastard as the villain which was enjoyable. Solid 7/10 definitely ahead of Dunkirk & Tenet in Nolans career but behind the rest. I wouldn’t be surprised if he makes a sequel/Prequel of the Achilles story from the Iliad yet.
Well there you have it. They obviously made editorial choices to make it more realistic. But do you want it to be realistic or historically accurate? You can’t have both.
His hubris seemed well covered to me.
Is there a female cast in a male role in it?
