Graham Geraghty

It is being reported that the Meath panel have voted not to invite Graham Geraghty back onto the squad for the rest of the year following an altercation with a squad member last weekend.

If this is to be the end of his Meath career, he will be a huge loss to them.

A sad way for one of the finest players of his generation to leave the inter county stage

He didn’t seem happy with Meath set up and was sniping at his teamates during the Dublin matches. There is a difference between giving out to your teamates when they do something wrong and just having a moan to prove a point. There was one incident I remember where a pass didn’t go to him and instead of chasing down the Dublin defender who was no more than three or four yards away he started moaning at his teammate. To be truthful he reminded me of Keane in the month or two either side of the Saipan episode.

You get plenty of training ground incidents but you have to be prepared to stay there and apologise if required to. He’s full of himself and left the park in a huff - there’s no excuse for that. With Sheridan opting out of intercounty football they’re down their two biggest names in the forward line.

I thought Sheridan was poor in both Dublin games Rock. Stephen Bray is having a great season and they have Brian Farrell back. They should beat Down but after that it will be very tough without Geraghty.

He was dreadful alright - but I’m not sure they can afford to lose both of them. I don’t think it’s a huge loss from a playing perspective but it suggests there’s something wrong behind the scenes. It’s a poor decision from Sheridan and it should be held against him in future. He has no bother playing the Dublin games - but when it gets to the backdoor he suddenly loses interest in the whole intercounty scene.

He should be locked up anyway. Dirty prick.

my sources describe it as a “savage” beating & the “worst I have seen”

my source said the same Raven but I think its the same source !!!

it doesnt seem to be the attack that is the problem - it was the lack of an apology

Sheridan played well the first day against Dublin. It’s a shocking decision by him though and I don’t like the way management are keeping the door open for him. Coyler should have stared him down rather than mollycoddling him.

Very poor form by Geraghty. Some of the other senior players should have gone in and battered him if that’s the way he’s going to act to a youngster making his way in the game.
