She never broke at all. She was up 2lbs as well. Not good.
I will check my long range weather forecast to see what itās like for the week.

Not too bad looking. Might have to give it a while to thaw on Monday morning though.
Clonmel will be fine, the frost isnt too bad outside the pale, I galloped two dogs at lunch time today and there was not frost left anywhere.
Here is the remainder of my Oaks preview, wont get the derby done thoughā¦
Onto the 3rd quarter,
TULLAMOY QUEEN v BECKY
QUALITY AND DASH v CROSS KINGS
HELENS DIVA v LATEST BET
PROLIFIC ARTIST v BOWER SIGN
SMOKEY AOIFE v LOUGHSHORE BLAZE
UPTOWN HOPE v TONERS GIRL
LISLOOSE ACCORD v WISE PURCHASE
BURNPARK SADIE v SPRUCE STORY
ā¦and this is where I see the overall winner coming from. Yes, above I said to back New Inn, bit only got her quarter, it is a mega competitive one and the easiest path to wednesday afternoon comes from here. And my overall selection is Wise Purchase to bring the oaks back to Newry for Brendan Matthews. This daughter of Carrick Candy has impressed me loads, and reckon she will take to the hill the best of all the bitches, she will have it tough in her first buckle against Lisloose Accord, a fine big strong bitch out of the prolific Chubbys Accord. In this quarter Helens Diva will also attract a lot of support, a winner at the regional meeting and in impressive style, but a potential Oaks winner would have accouted for Moonveen Laura in the first round of the all age in Nācastlewest. Also keep an eye on the late Murt Ryans Quality and Dash, however the handicap of five runs up the field sevenhouses only two weeks ago will tell after a couple of rounds, but she should get over Cross Kings in the first buckle.

RAZOR SCOTCH v JARDIN DEL MAR
MARLFIELD FLASHY v SONAS AMBER
GLIN VIEW BITLE v SOUTHWIND MOLLY
RUSHING v CEARC GHOIR

VACUME HYLAND v INTENSE FOCUS
KILPEACON AMBUSH v FINUGE MOLLY
GENTSTOWN GOLDIE v VACUME STARLIGHT

In the bottom of the draw the two stand out bitches are Razor Scotch and Class Attration, but neither will have the class to make the Oaks final in my book. Razor Scotch, a daughter of Razor Lasy who has bred a Clonmel winner in Razore Ashmore, so she shouldnt want to pace or staying power. She won her TS with some ease in Kilrush, and has been tucked away since. Class Attraction, now this is an interesting one, she is a very young bitch whelped 29th June, and managed to pick up her ticket on the second attempt in Johnstown & Urlingford after going down to the very fast Rushing in Kilsheelan two weeks earlier. She is bred from a super dam line assoctiated with the Moonveen prefix of the Mackey family in mooncoin, south kilkenny, and if she does win the oaks, Fran from these parts will be proud. She changed habds before Christmas and will now go to slips under the owership of the very shrewd Con Guiney.
So Overallā¦
Q1 - Same OVer and Rua Nua
Q2 - NewInn All In
Q3 - Wise Purchase
Q4 - Razor Scotch and Class Attraction
Oaks winner Wise Purchase from New Inn all in.
And while we are on the subject of females, I fancy Kingsmaill Bliss to win the Grace Bruton, with the closest challenge coming from Cleanaway Smurf.
Assumed youād just check how the moss was growing or observe birds in flight to get the forecast Runty?
That would only get me the local forecast though
Thereās talk abroad that Harry has bought into Mafi Magic in an audacious strike on the eve of Clonmelā¦
Will he show up himself?
Not sure, hopefully. There is a school of thought that maintains that Harry not appearing in short odds may give the market a bit more balance, Harry used to be able to ram the price on his own but maybe the small buyers and sellers will make the market more sensible.
I assume āThe Dogā is in Australia for the tennis so Iād say making it to slips tomorrow will be tough, maybe Wednesday?
To be honest this whole buying a dog the week before to win an event wouldnāt really appeal to me regardless of how much money I had.
Anyone know who handles Newgrange Spirit? Been looking through the derby for a bit of value, and at 50s I think this fella could be it. Although his sire is a major minus for me, at least heās from one of the top dam lines of the past few years and if heās being trained by someone who knows his onions I think he could be value to win the top quarter. Not sure about the winning the whole thing but a price approaching 10s for the quarter would appeal.
I think Iāll try and book tuesday off work tomorrow and make it a 2 day event for myself.
Who else is going on the Monday? Might leave it till Tuesday myself, undecided at present.
Isnāt the IGB open unraced final on at the track on Tuesday night as well?
Iāll be there on Monday, but I have to come home Monday night, Iāll stay down on Tuesday night though. Iād say SS** is there for the whole shebang.
Iāll definitely be down Tuesday at some stage, still unsure whether Iāll make the coursing though. Itāll depend on how I get on at work tomorrow.
It should be a great few days. What pubs would ye recommend? I hear Charlie Chawkes brother has a noble pub down thereā¦
Pity about George last night MAD, as Runt commented when she didnāt make a flying start she had it all to do. In other news, i couldnāt see Tip and Tin getting turned over in the final of the Con Kirby. I wasnāt backing him at 4/5 though and was waiting for one of the Dunworths to go evens and i was going to knock him off his box. Luckily he never did go to evens and i kept my money in my pocket. Theyād have cleaned up if they pushed him out to evensā¦
Are you working Wednesday as well?
Oā Donaghue went evens and was nearly knocked down in the rush.
I saw that alright i nearly burst myself laughing at it, they were five deep, fellas were throwing money at him!
FAO The Runt:
How many trailers of coke did you order and when can we expect them to arrive in Clonmel? I would hope by Tuesday evening at the very latestā¦
Iām leaving here around 5pm and will be down there until Wednesday, staying in Tivoli as usual within a stoneās throw of the birthplace of the imperious Tivoli Smuts. Thereās decent racing at the track tonight aswell Dunph but Iād say Iāll head to the Minella altogether and see if there are any outrageous rumours doing the rounds. I am going to pick a random leading Derby hope and tell everyone I know that I have it on good authority that he sprung a toe this morning.
Tuesday night Iāll stay indoors as thereās Live Sky Dogs on with Westmead Osprey going for the Arc, āTake 2/1ā. Mulcahyās for that one. BTW Dunph, I hope youāve booked a few days in Spain or something for mid February because the depression coming out of Clonmel on the Wednesday evening is something Sigmund Freud couldnāt fathom. I am either spending Thursday in a solarium in Chartbusters or going to Madrid for some city sun. For your mental health I suggest you do likewise sonny.
