They had words there another night a few weeks back about OāNeill taking bets inside in the bar, apparently he got an official warning over it. He was saying he was only showing a bit of initiative.
Official warning Iād say the last fella to get that in Limerick was JP when he forgot to put a few bets into the ledger one night.
That was before my time, I wonder what the market was like there in those days?
Iād say at least you could get some class of a bet on. The crew there now are a sorry lot. ā¬100 seems to have them running for cover. If you presented them with a deuce youād be viewed as a criminal.
It has arrived⦠the wife will pick up a batch loaf and a quarter pound of Ballyfoyle ham in the moring, and then once the buttering and sloberin with mustard is complete, it will be all systems goā¦
To those at the callover tonight, enjoy !
So tomorrows plan of action for me once i get on course.
Long Odds
Wise Purchase - Oaks
Same Over - quarter Oaks
Newgrange Spirit - quarter Derby
Sandy Sea - Champion if I can get 5/4
Kingsmill - Grace Bruton
Short Odds
Tory Hill to beat Adios Alonso
City Deal to beat High and Mighty
Rushing to beat Cearc Ghoir
Who trains this lad Newgrange Spirit?
Do i need to bring wellies to Clonmel or will it be respectable enough (shit-wise) around the stands area or wherever iāll be loitering?
Word has reached me from Clonmel that the Matthews money is after coming for Wilton Hearld, backed from 20ās into 3ās.
Incredible Scenes!
Is this in the Oaks? If thatās the case then New Inn All In must be better than 4/1? Will you keep us updated please on how todays action is going Runtā¦
No, this is the Derby.
I have thrown a few scheckles on Gerry Griffins dog @ 16/1. More in hope than anything.
I will keep this thread update with results as I get them.
Iām up the walls here at work so I donāt think Iāll make the full day tomorrow but I should be arriving on course about 14:30 in time for under-the-stand hot whiskey and banter.
Is it possible to back coursing online?
Is there any point in backing a dog for outright success when i get down there tomorrow or should that really be done on the Monday?
I was going to throw a few bob at Kerrys Calling for the Derby and Rushing for the Oaks. Both should be in excess of 20/1 i would say, well they would have been this morning anywayā¦
No problems backing out right tomorrow morning. Obviously youāll be getting shorter odds though. If you had very solid information/strong fancy getting it done this morning would have been required. But if you are just looking for a few bets to keep you entertained then work away tomorrow morning.
You can bet on individual courses, trebles, doubles etc so thereāll be plenty to keep you amused.
Is there a tent or marquee down there where a few lads can have a few drinks? Iām thinking beers here.
Also, would it be fairly shitty down there or would the stand, marquee, betting areas be respectable enough?
Powerstown Park = Clonmel Racecourse.
So itās your typical Irish Racecourse. Two rickety old stands with ample bar areas underneath. Tarmac/gravel viewing areas.
Youād get away with a pair of runners/boots no problem. The field outside it might be a bit mucky though.
Breaking News: NewInn AllIn is out, as is Wise Purchase.
Rushing is through to the next round and looked very impressive. You could be looking at skimpy odds tomorrow Dunph.
Helens Diva and Lucan Glory also looked good.
Incredible scenes! Damn i should have got down there today and backed Rushing.
How about the Derby, any news on that? How did City Deal v High and Mighty go? Is Kerrys Calling still standing?
I think they are only starting to run through the Derby now.
I had a few photos to load up but the site aināt letting me.
Update from powerstown as they prepare to go the slips in the Derby.
Newinn All In gone
Wise Purchase gone
Lucan Glory, Lady Nimble, Needham Time, Helens Diva and Rushing all very impressive.
Wilton is being gambled all morning was as short as 3ās in place, good money for Intense focus in the Oaks too.
