Gripes with RTÉ

@Rocko

What’s your beef with Phil Coulter?

Ratings?

The need for signing of release forms makes me question how real these shows are (signs are often put up to say filming in progress)

I used to enjoy Mike Murphy’s hidden camera show and of course Murphy’s Micro Quiz m

Cos Craig Doyle was absolutely awful and Gerry Ryan Died. Gerry had his name all over it til he popped off and left us with an Anthony O’Reilly Indo gobshite of a cunt!

You can prove anything with statistics

100% right

Given that gaybo is such a pompous arrogant condescenting cunt, i move that russell murphy gets posthumous recognition as an alright sort. I worked with one of his sons and you couldnt meet a nicer lad

  1. He reminds me of George Martin, forever mentioning his production work and his contributions to other artists.

  2. He wrote Ireland’s Call

  3. He fucked Planxty over contractually and took their rights and sold them to shitty compilation albums for his own gain.

2 on its own is a war crime

Is your problem with this purely the composition of the song or is it something more political?

They wont publish my comments when I slag off a late late show lineup on the rte website. Shower a bastards always promoting other rte rubbish on the late late/Brendan O’Connor.

  3. He’s never seen without a piano…

  4. To a struggling people he reassured them with music and lyrics of what’s won is won and whats lost is lost and gone forever…jaysus Id say the people of free Derry loved that!..the 6 counties are not gone, not lost and no rugby cock singing Ireland Ireland so good they named it twice will tell me otherwise…

Fuck sake @Rocko, gripes about Rte. How original. People have been griping about Rte for 50 years. Are you that stuck for something to have a rant about.

It’s an abomination of a song on many levels Farmer. It’s lyrically bereft, muscially boring, it has no sentiment (unlike every other anthem one could name).

The line “come the power and the glory” is particularly galling in its nonsensical construction. We will fight when there is power and glory. What the fuck is he talking about?

I agree with that Rocko in that it is such a cliched load of bullshit.

But I don’t have a huge problem with the notion of it though. Like the great @Raymond Crotty, I am for anything that aims to make Unionists feel more inclusive in a 32 county Ireland.

Scorn not his simplicity.

Posted about this on the other thread, un-fucking-believeable! How much do taxpayers pay him??!

RTE pays him, not taxpayers. Taxpayers listen to him.

Nope, budget. Costs nothing to make.
