The defence were extraordinarily bad. All of them. Tierney escapes 45 minutes of criticism because he came off at half time. The other 3 were hapless and didn’t look like they gave a shit. Embarrassing performances.
Midfield weren’t in it in the first half, apart from Ntcham who I wouldn’t have taken off. Brown had a reasonable second half but was too quiet in the first half. McGregor was poor. Armstrong shit when he came on. We didn’t recognize their threat at all in the first half - we allowed them to run off us onto flicks from their forwards and didn’t start deep enough to adjust.
Griffiths was all self indulgent and shit. One or two decent shots but he didn’t link play at all and just acted the prick. Sinclair was better but didn’t really look good enough.
Forrest had been very good.
But the midfield and forwards don’t really matter in a performance like this. Lustig, Boyata and Simunovic have been ridiculously bad. And two of them don’t have enough good games in their history to begin to justify this sort of lapse.
Celtic collapsed embarrassingly today. Hearts were aggressive and didn’t let Celtic build up from the back. It became a game of tackles and second balls from an early stage and Celtic’s failure to stand up to the physical challenges all over the pitch was grim. The defence has been weak as fuck and there was a total inability to impose our game. Some tidy finishes from their perspective but a lot of brutal defending, awful decisions and general softness. To quote Tony Mowbray we need to take it on the chin and move on. I’m personally going to be dignified and humble anyway.
