Poor first half from Celtic. Some of the same old frustrations and some new ones.
Old Frustrations:
Fortune is a frustrating fucker. Gets the ball in space and his only idea seems to be to get close to a defender so he can beat him and shoot from 20 yards. He had a cracking chance to play Keane or Aiden in at 0-1 but his general play is even worse. Few times he’s got the ball up the line and there’s a pass on but he wants to get involved in a wrestling match so he can “roll” the defender. It’s miserable to watch.
Marking for Hearts’ goal was ridiculous. You could see what was going to happen (Zaliukas even pointed where he wanted it) but Wilson stood still and O’Dea was too slow.
Brown hasn’t made a pass of note all game. Another one who seems happier fighting for lost causes then getting on the ball.
New Frustrations:
Mark Wilson in central midfield. For fuck’s sake. Can we not try and pass the ball around Hearts? Wilson and Brown in the centre of the park is simply brutal. Shite tactics.
Villa have been linked with Hinkel a bit. What ya make of him. Seems a decent crosser of the ball anyway.
Wasnt so long ago you were all about Scott Brown around that time when ye lost to Aalborg. Heady times then. I classed him as a poor man’s Nigel Reo Coker and looks like I was right.
Better second half. Zhi went central with Wilson out wide and it just gave a bit more balance and opportunities to pass it. Zhi got a decent goal and got on the ball a bit and the game was won comfortably. Excellent refereeing earlier on to deny Braafhied a goal by awarding an indirect free kick for Wilson getting kicked in the head.
KIB, Hinkel’s a decent player overall. Has good form at the moment but 12 months ago he was pretty bad. He gives too much room for crosses on a consistent basis and can be exposed to a long diagonal a bit too often for comfort. Comfortable on the ball going forward and crosses reasonably well but no pace or tricks really so you’re relying on others making the room for him. I like him and wouldn’t like to see him go at all but he’s no extraordinary talent.
