The police reaction to this shows you all you’ll ever need to know about the credibility of the security services in the ‘united kingdom’.
Let us not forget the sun’s contribution to the tragedy:

I remember the fateful day as well.
I had some sort of bug but watched the first part and saw the fans coming on to the pitch. When it became apparent that the game was going to be called off then I went back to bed all disappointed.
Then I was told of the full extent of what had happened. I couldn’t believe it. I was relatively young at the time but I still was shocked by it.
Myself and the brother were up in a family friends’ gaff in Drogheda, watching the TV, was a lovely hot day and we were playing ball in the garden, even though I was 7 I felt pretty sick watching it. The oul lad and the rest of the adults were fairly shocked by the whole thing, in a different way I suppose.
Supported Liverpool at the time. Vaguely remember watching it. Remember Aldridge being badly affected by it and also remember RTE covering the next match they played which was against Celtic. Read about that tragedy in Ellis Park also. Horrid stuff.
I watched the start of the game, a mad Liverpool fan at the time. I didn’t fully understand what was happening and then had to go up to the local soccer field to watch my younger brother play the only match he ever played in his life. Everyone on the sideline was exchanging rumours about what was happening. Went home to the utter shock of what was happening. Same feeling of utter dread as when I watched Heysel unfolding.
20 years, fuck me.
A few months later, I got into serious trouble with the ould pair when Michael Thomas scored that goal. My older brother, and Arsenal supporter, stood right infront of me, face to face yelling and screaming. So I punched the fucker. Didn’t go down very well.

TORRES SEEKS WINNING TRIBUTE TO FANS
Chelsea 6/4, Draw 2/1, Liverpool 2/1
Fernando Torres believes Liverpool need to produce a miraculous Champions League win in memory of the 96 fans who died at Hillsborough 20 years ago.
The Spanish striker has already dedicated his two goals in Saturday’s 4-0 win over Blackburn to the memory of those fans.
And he hopes Liverpool can achieve a result against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday to reach the semi-finals of the Champions League, just hours ahead of Wednesday’s memorial service at Anfield.
Liverpool are 3-1 down from the first leg and desperate to produce an improbable victory in west London.
Torres is acutely aware of the significance of this week and has already paid his own tribute to those who lost their lives at Hillsborough, pointing to the heavens after scoring his brilliant opening goal on Saturday against Blackburn.
Torres said: "Those goals on Saturday were for the 96 and their families because I know that it was a special day for them with it being the home game closest to the anniversary.
"The goals were more special because of the service on Wednesday, when we will see the families on an important day for them and for all Liverpool supporters.
“It makes tomorrow’s game all the more important. We have to try to do it for the families and the 96 who died.”
Liverpool’s players, coaching staff and management will fly back from London directly after the game and will be at Anfield for Wednesday’s memorial service to those who died in Britain’s worst football tragedy.
Boss Rafael Benitez has already praised the fans for their conduct on Saturday ahead of the Blackburn game.
He said: "The minutes’ silence was observed by everyone with great respect. Everyone knows what this week means to us here, it was a great reaction from everyone.
"This is going to be a difficult week for the club in terms of the Hillsborough anniversary so it was good that we could win on Saturday for our fans and for the families.
“And it would be good do the same at Chelsea for the same reasons.”
Torres is confident Liverpool can overcome the odds at Stamford Bridge.
He said: "I believe the team can score three goals at Chelsea although it is very difficult because they are a strong team.
"We can do it, we have confidence, we know we can win the game. And we will not panic if we do concede one there, if we score three then it goes to extra-time.
"We won away to Manchester United, they scored but we still won 4-1. Chelsea could just defend, but I doubt that, they will want to score themselves and that will give us a chance ourselves.
“Chelsea will play for the win, if they score one or two it will be over. They will not just defend, they will try to attack.”
And defender Jamie Carragher is equally confident, adding: "Chelsea played very well at Anfield, we have to give them credit for that.
“But over the last couple of months we have been the form team in the country, and we know we can do it.”
They haven’t a chance tomorrow night, don’t know what makes them think they’ll just be able to turn up and hammer Chelsea at SB.
Also an opportunity to think of a clever quip which sums up the thread or some aspect of it.
Never seems to happen though.
It’s tonight, Sledge.
Bed time, I think.
Bed it is
I’d have to agree Sledge but I can only hope.
I wonder will the 20th anniversary commemorations introduce some dignity and decorum into what it means to be a Liverpool fan. I won’t be holding my breath anyway, which is why I hope Chelsea see them off on a big aggregate scoreline, let them have their mass tomorrow, and let the rest of us get on with the important business of football.
