The old war office is happy Iâve taken recommendations from TFK for once @Spidey @KinvarasPassion @Juhniallio. Beautiful here in La Sirene. Coillioure a rare gem. Lucky to be there on market day. Argeles a lovely bustling town in its own right too. There was a Back to the future show at the campsite last night with a fairly convincing looking Delorean. Honestly wouldnt have been out of place at Broadway.

On the WB Yeats now to Cherbourg. I am travelling everywhere from now on by ferry, great job.

Missed this post, we are over again in August. Glad to hear the shows are good. The main ones last year were top class. How did ye find the weather that time of year?
Yeah I love ferries myself. Must do one next year with the kids as theyâd probably prefer the ferry experience to the holiday. Thinking of going to north of France or north of Spain via ferry from Cork - anyone done that from Cork and where best to choose with two young kids?
Pretty much every poster with kids on here has done it id say 
Spain is not far off double the journey and a worse ferry
Cork roscoff is simple. Literally hundreds of campsites within 3 hours of roscoff but youd need to go much further south to be guaranteed the heat but you donât need heat or a long drive with young kids
There is a site called la mouettes about 45 mins from ferry is absolutely class

So get the Cork to France ferry and then do the camping thing? I presume itâs small housing units not camping - a bit like Centre Parks but in France? Will check up that site La Mouettes, thanks. I know thereâs been loads of posts in this thread about various other French campsites I can look those up too. Could you put down 7-10 days in one of those sites? We normally just holiday in Ireland since the kids came along but theyâre getting to a suitable age from next summer to take abroad.
Yes. La mouettes is so close you could walk on the ferry and get a taxi the other side but nice to have the car
Not quite like center parcs the accommodation is not houses. Range from mobile homes to small chaletsâŚthere is more premium accommodation in mouettes than most places that is v nice but more expensive
You could put down the whole summer in one of them campsites IMO. Very laid back holidayâŚbut obv depends how annoying ones kids are!
Absolutely brilliant holidays. My kids didnât want to go this year wanted to do something else and we were gutted tbh

We are also finished with the campsites, first time since about 2011 Iâd say
Best holiday you can do with kids IMO
Iâll beat the drum for the south of England once more , particularly when you have small kids @Smark

Anywhere in particular in Cornwall? Presume youâd fly in and rent a car as opposed to ferry/car?
You could do that, but we always drove from Pembroke, stopping for a night in Somerset or Bristol
We stayed in Perranporth and around Fistral beach but travelled a fair bit in Cornwall
Fabulous place, great food and drink, lots for kids and they speak English

I flew to Newquay and rented a car. Stayed in Padstow. It is beautiful but itâs mobbed in summer and finding a place to park can be a challenge. That would be my only quibble.

Some heat here en France for the past few days. Have been in Ăle de RĂŠ since Sunday but heading up to Talmont Saint Hilaire tomorrow. At least weather is due to change from Thurs to be late 20s instead of late 30s. Only a small campsite here but nice and relaxing.

Kids menu typically chicken goujons or fried fish and chips and ice cream after. Ring to book/confirm. The weekly menu for adults is updated on their Facebook page. Go for the wine pairing option

I was looking at the menu on the website, seems interesting, âŹ69 pp for 4 courses including the wine pairings.
Iâm going to look into this when we are out there. Would be a nice change up.
