Jo’burg’s a decent holiday Puke. Although I spent a week of three in Capetown so not sure how long you’d be thinking of. 10 days would prob be enough there
Food is fantastic. They like their meat…anything with 4 legs is fair game for a braii (BBQ)
You can do a game drive, sun city is a bit over touristy but worth a look. If you’re visiting someone it’s better than goin as a hoorist
Anyone been to San Sebastian? I’ve to go there for a work thing in a few weeks and I’m wondering if it’s worth taking an extra day or two to look around the place.
been there a few times- love it - the old town is deadly for a night out & if the weather is good the beach is deadly-well worth taking a few extra days if you are there
there is one street dedicated to Euskadi & you can pick up Bobby Sands t shirts
we stayed on the beach which was deadly as we were within walking distance of eveything. if you staed a few streers back you would still be able to walk to everything
stayed in hotellondres & hotelniza which were nice if pricey
try to be there for the weekend as the old town is deadly- its packed & its just 1 big pub crawl
bilbao is about an hour away & cheap enough to get to on the bus- onyl passed it briefly & it looked a bit of a dump but the guggenheim etc is there-you can fly home via biaritz or bilbao
Based solely on TANs recommendation I will be spending the October bank holiday in NCW. Can anyone recommend any good hotels, restaurants, pubs or other nightlife there.
Amazing. Can fly into Zadar in N Croatia with Ryanair, travel down the coast, spend night in Split and get ferry to Islands then. Hvar is a super spot. Can pick up cheap accom in peoples houses when you get off the ferry. Beautiful place, friendly people, good food etc. Dubrovnik, meh, grand for a day trip but its small enough and whilst extremely pituresque it is the kind of place thats nice to see, but not worth going to see. Could fly home out of there though as its in S Croatia and could be visited on the way home.
Loads of smaller islands than Hvar that you could visit but not as developed maybe, but prob cheaper.
Fagan seems to suffer from the same problem I do if I try to quote someone when posting on the phone. You can only post on top of the quoted piece. Any way round this?

[/quote]I don’t see this as a problem Gola. It’s more of a challenge really
Phil, if you’re going to Dubrovnik I definitely recommend taking a trip south to Montenenegro and in particular the city of Kotor. Absolutely spectactular scenery, good buzz around the place, very inexpensive and the girls are unbelievable. Ideal for the lone traveller
I thought Dubrovnik was a cracking city. You probably wouldn’t do more than a few days there but well worth a visit and the islands are good.
Bilbao and San Sebastian are deadly places WTB. I did it the other way around and stayed in Bilbao but did trip to San Sebastian on bus and train. Train took fucking ages but I think we were on some weird steam-powered thing. Both great cities anyway but San Sebastian has the beach bit to it which is deadly.
